We have currently launched from the UK a campaign for the abolition of the death penalty. www.AbolishTheDeathPenalty.com This campaign we are running is in basic form a global petition. I’m sure you are aware of the last petition of this type that took place in 2000 which achieved 3.2 million signatures and provided enough pressure to make considerable changes to the laws surrounding the death penalty. Of course in the last five years a great many factors have changed that we feel can be capitalised upon to bring about the end of the death penalty. These being changes in attitude and opinion towards the death penalty, international opinion regarding the US government etc and the progress made in Europe that has resulted thankfully in the vast majority of countries totally abolishing the death penalty. Then considering the substantial growth in the internet in this period we know we can shatter this past figure. We are lucky to be supported by a number of commercial specialists in many fields who have helped us form the strategies that will be the key to the success of this operation. We are not trying to re-invent the wheel with this process at all, but rather trying to collate the efforts of all the international bodies, organisations and religions fighting for abolition. We do of course have to operate very very carefully to ensure our petition that will be submitted to the United Nations is found to be legal and correct. For this reason we accept NO financial donations of any kind nor do we sell any forms of merchandise or charge for any services etc. All funds required for this campaign come strictly from private donations from individuals that have been outlined prior to launch. We also supply materials and promotional equipment to other organisations supporting the same cause. For various reasons we feel the most effective manner in which to achieve abolition within the US which is MOST crucial in the long term plans for abolition is to conduct a “parallel” appeal i.e. that pressures build internally and externally. We are a dynamic group sufficiently funded and equipped to ensure the success of this campaign. Together we can make this happen. We wish to provide an effective form of recognition to all your efforts and a means to ensure that they result in effective action. I hope you will choose to assist in this campaign and further the progress you have already helped to achieve in this matter. We have several individual campaigns that will be run as a subset to the petition relative to our strategy. Please consider supporting us, as we will already commit to doing the same for you, we’re all fighting for the same cause, we just hope to act as a catalyst by joining the efforts of all the bodies involved in this fight to end such human injustice. In the first instance I hope that you will sign the petition yourself and forward the included email in the “Support Us” section, this is of paramount importance as we have different bodies and forms of media who have guaranteed there support at different points in the campaign, the quicker we meet these targets the quicker we can progress towards the solution. Many thanks for your time, Charles Wylie.

What probono.net an attorneys resource says about CCADP site : this is what probono.net says about our site ! I like it! Canadian Coalition to Abolish the Death Penalty www.ccadp.orgThis site is the most information packed site on death row inmates, clemency campaigns and claims of innocence on the web. Although the not the easiest site on the web to navigate, it is a must see for activist, and lawyers should visit it to find out [1] what information it lists on their clients, and [2] to see how a web campaign for the client's life can be put together. Like the CUADP listed above, CCADP is run on a shoestring budget with impact well beyond its relatively meager economic resources."
