It is a common perception among some pros that antis believe that there are an extraordinary amount of innocent people on DR. Judging by their webpages and pen pal requests, one gets the impression that they are all innocent or mentally retarded. I think the anti movement loses credibiity by exagerated claims of innocence, and I am wondering if i am operating under a misconception. Tell me, someone, what percentage of DR inmates do you think are innocent?

Where I can agree there are SOME innocents on DR (the guilty far outweigh the innocent), I think the mental problem excuse of overly claimed also. I can agree also that most anyone in the situation they are in would try to use anything possible to get "off" but I also totally agree that they are the ones that got themselves in that situation..not gun manufacturers or crack cocaine or abuse by their mother. Its their fault and I personally get tired of hearing just about all of them say they are innocent or mentally impared. (Aren't we all mentally impared in some ways?)

For example...FREAK. His state appointed attorney flew to San Antonio Texas, Jacksonville, Florida, and Huntsville, Alabama in search of my little brother. He basically stalked me for about a week until I threatend to have the guys I work with thrown his over paid rear in jail. Again, it may not be the case in all but there are alot of state appointed attorneys that go beyond the call of duty.

An actual %? I don't really know. But I do know that there are innocent people on death row. I also know that innocent people have been put to death. I believe the MAJOR point that a lot of the pro's miss is the fact that what we believe is that even if someone is guilty we still don't think they should be put to death. On the same hand we don't believe that they should be free. We believe in giving LWOP as another choice. I am not speaking for this board when I say we I mean most anti's.

I am not speaking for this board when I say we I mean most anti's. 8%-12% innocent in prison according to the United States Department of Justice. I'm sure some of those people are on death row. I seriously doubt we're perfect in the one area, but not in the rest. I'll look for the exact link for you........ huggggz, Suzanne

8% of 441 inmates is 35.28 inmates? That is high! I wonder how many of those are uneducated or lack any kind of support, legal or any other kind, to keep them from getting executed?

I think it is important to KNOW the case before claming innocence. I agree that it is damaging if people speak about cases they know little to nothing about. There is NO WAY I would just take an inmates word for it.
I don't want to guess how many % are innocent on death row. I don't know.

Many times the inmate will speak for himself or herself with someone posting what he's saying and the web designer may not be speaking for said inmate until the webmaster has looked into the case further.
