There has been a lot of usage of the eye for an eye stuff. and i had mentioned in multiple threads the love that God has for us ALL. And i decided to get something out of the OLD testament. The prophecy of what Jesus would do and WHO it helped. So here it is:
Isaiah 53:3-11
3 He is despised and rejected by men,
A Man of sorrows and acquainted with grief.
And we hid, as it were, our faces from Him;
He was despised, and we did not esteem Him.
4 Surely He has borne our griefs
And carried our sorrows;
Yet we esteemed Him stricken,
Smitten by God, and afflicted.
5 But He was wounded for our transgressions,
He was bruised for our iniquities;
The chastisement for our peace was upon Him,
And by His stripes we are healed.
6 All we like sheep have gone astray;
We have turned, every one, to his own way;
And the LORD has laid on Him the iniquity of us all.
7 He was oppressed and He was afflicted,
Yet He opened not His mouth;
He was led as a lamb to the slaughter,
And as a sheep before its shearers is silent,
So He opened not His mouth.
8 He was taken from prison and from judgment,
And who will declare His generation?
For He was cut off from the land of the living;
For the transgressions of My people He was stricken.
9 And they made His grave with the wicked—
But with the rich at His death,
Because He had done no violence,
Nor was any deceit in His mouth.
10 Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise Him;
He has put Him to grief.
When You make His soul an offering for sin,
He shall see His seed, He shall prolong His days,
And the pleasure of the LORD shall prosper in His hand.
11 He shall see the labor of His soul,and be satisfied.
By His knowledge My righteous Servant shall justify many,
For He shall bear their iniquities.
i also put that part in bold because i want the people who don't seem to "get it" to see what the actual hebrew translation of Justify is in this bold verse. I will take the definition right out of my key word dictionary in my bible:
verb: to be right, to clear oneself, to cleanse, to be straight, to be just, to be true, to be upright, to be righteous, to be in the right, to be justified, to obtain one's cause to be restored, to be exonerated, to justify, to declare to be righteousness, to make righteous, to declare someone innocent or righteous, to be VINDICATED FROM WRONGS, to acquit, to approve of, to have a just cause, to speak truth among the disputants, rationalization.
Now, maybe this is too deep for some of the people in dispute of God's love and forgiveness towards the criminals and "sinners"...but it says in the final line, that He will BEAR THEIR INIQUITIES. Do you know what that means? It means as He died on that Cross He took on all the iniquity, meaning that he was therefore JUSTIFYING those who are sinners. Which is where the definition comes in. That the purpose for Him to be up there was to atone for us and vindicate us from the wrongs!
And here is another verse which discusses prisoners specifically:
Isaiah 42:6-7
6 “ I, the LORD, have called You in righteousness,
And will hold Your hand;
I will keep You and give You as a covenant to the people,
As a light to the Gentiles,
7 To open blind eyes,
To bring out prisoners from the prison,
Those who sit in darkness from the prison house.
Maybe some of the ones who come here claiming christianity and spewing hatred can take some of this to heart.
