i just read some threads on Charlene´s pro DP page and found this thread: QUOTE: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Does anyone know how to get death row inmates from FLorida off the web? IT is now illegal to advertise for Florida prisoners.I wrote the penpal sites...but they are doing nothing. And the man I know has numerous websites too...proclaiming his innocence.Which is a total lie.
maybe this person has a personal interest in getting DR inmate websites off..i dunno and cant judge that .. but thank god the whole idea is something thats impossible to manage....yes it might be illegal for Florida prisoners to advertise but its not illegal for them or their familes to ask penpal sites to do so .... and most of all its not illegal for foreign penpal sites to post these websites.... i dont know what drives this person ... well maybe i dont want to know ... any opinions about that post of hers? Mo-DAWG Section I - Notices of Development of Proposed Rules and Negotiated Rulemaking 511 THE PRELIMINARY TEXT OF THE PROPOSED RULE DEVELOPMENT IS: 33-210.101 Routine Mail. (8) Inmates shall not use correspondence privileges to solicit or otherwise commercially advertise for money, goods or services. For the purposes of this rule this includes advertising for pen-pals; inmates are not prohibited from corresponding with pen pals, but shall not place ads soliciting pen pals. Inmates are prohibited from receiving correspondence or materials from persons or groups marketing advertising services, or from subscribing to advertising services. Inmates who post ads or have ads posted with the assistance of another person shall be subject to disciplinary action. The Florida inmates are well aware of the consequences. I haven't seen anywhere that state people can't post the ads. hugggz, Suzanne

As you say Mo-Dawg, it's illegal for a Fl inmate to advertise for a pen-pal, but it's NOT illegal for for any inmate's family or friend to advertise on their behalf . I wouldn't go on that 'other' web-site, even to read responses to this post and can't understand why it annoys folks so much if prisoners correspond with the outside world. What difference does it make who inmates write to Is it because, maybe, oh god forbid it could take their mind off the stifling environment for a few minutes whilst reading a letter ? Can't have any form of escapism whatsoever, albeit in the shape of a letter You know letting things like that get to you, when there's really nothing that can be done about it, will cause stomach ulcers in the long run, so instead of worrying sick about death row inmates having pen-pals, taking up yoga or something similar would be much more beneficial to health

thanks a lot for the quotes and the links Suzanne, it was very intersting to read and very enlightening. we now know what we have to deal with and are able to find new ways of setting up DR inmates pages without endangering the inmates themselves. hugz 2 ya too Mo-DAWG
