I got my first reply today, from Georgia. I haven't opened the envelope yet, I want to wait until the kids are in bed first. To be honest I feel a bit nervous, and kind of worried about starting something which may mean much more to the other person than it will to me. Also, what can I send to Georgia? Can I add extra pages to the letter so he has blank paper to write back on? Or can i send stamps , photos etc? Any hints would be great! DT

DT Hello Your questions about mail regarding GEORGIA you can send self made cards (even if you glued something on them) up to 10 pictures a envelope - no polaroids stickers on the envelope are allowed you can not send : Stamps I do not know about paper for them to write on, I would not do that right away, I would ask him about that in my next letter to him first

Just curious, why do they disallow you to send polaroid photos?

They are afraid someone could slip something in between the two sheets that you'd get if you pulled a polaroid picture apart. A secret note; even drugs.

Ah I see. Makes sense I suppose. But surely someone could do that with self-made cards.

I would not worry about the letter. Just remember that you writing to them is another set of eyes on the outside to tell them what they can't see. It is important and you have to remember that they might count on you so don't just stop writing. I think these letters will become important to you too. Just let it take its course and have a good time with your new friend.
