Hi everyone! One of my penpals has asked me if I could send him some stickers. I'm a scrapbooker, so I always have a huge surplus of stickers laying around...most are 2 sheets per package. I've never sent stickers before, so I have a few questions... 1. Can I do this? 2. If so, how many packets/sheets can I send at a time? 3. Do I need to take them out of their original packaging and send the sheets individually? Any ideas?? Thanks! -- Joy

Hi Joy, am not sure about Texas, but I do know stickers are banned in the mail to UCI in Florida and so are cards of any sort with 'tunes' in them, you know those ones that play 'Happy Birthday' or whatever when you open them. You could check the Web-site re incoming mail, it should list all the 'rules' there. Good luck, Maureen.

I thought it was against the rules to send stickers to Polunsky, but I might be wrong. If I sent stickers in, I would stick them in the letter and see if they got through that way. I think the mailroom would take them if you sent them on their original sheets. But I may be wrong on this, so I'm sure someone else will come along with more information and knowledge. I have recieved stickers on letters from my friends in there, so clearly they are getting them from somewhere

I believe that stickers, in their original, sealed packaging can be sent enclosed with a letter. Usually, one two sheet package is safest. If, for whatever reason, the mailroon won't accept them, the letter accompanying them is photocopied, sent to your friend, and the original with enclosures returned to you.

I thought it was against the rules too...however, I'm discovering there's a lot of things that come through that are aren't suppose to...like one of my penpals, he writes messages on the outside front of the envelope, draws little pictures on the front, and the other penpal sends envelopes that are in the print of the US flag. ?? I've always stuck with basic white envelopes, no stickers, and no more than 6 pictures at a time and I've never had a problem. I honestly think the Polunsky mail room makes up their own rules as they go along...geesh! The letters to me are coming from Texas to Michigan in 2-3 days...the letters going down to Texas are taking nearly 10 days for them to receive.
Another question...would something express mail (no signature required) reach them, or would that be considered a "package"?

Yep, you're probably right Joy, in that the mail-rooms make the rules up as they go along, if they got out the wrong side of the bed / hangover/ whatever then they might just stop stuff getting in in the mail. Touch wood, so far, I've not had any problems or had anything returned from UCI, Florida, although I haven't sent stickers, I have sent all kinds of coloured stationery, print-outs off the internet even a souvenir ticket from Aintree Grand National so it's a case of luck really as to what gets in and what doesn't. All the best

Yeah I have noticed that I am getting my mail on a normal basis (about 3 days from TX to IN) but mine to him are taking forever.
I usually just put stickers on the letter but I keep it to one or two. They can't have tape so that is what they use them for.
