I was so pleased this morning to get a reply from my new penpal Jody, whose a DR prisoner in Maryland. It was wonderful to hear from him so soon. I'm from Ireland, and had only sent my letter a week ago! Thank you CCDAP for giving me this wonderful friend. Gillian. x

That is great Gill! Thanks for sharing the news. I'm sure your new pen pal is very happy! You got some good turn around time! I hope your experience will be as good as mine has been so far.... at first I thought I was doing the prisoner a favor, but I've come to learn they are doing me a faovr as well. Good luck to you and your new friend

Maggie, I was writing to Doug Roberts (#999218, Texas) for 8 years prior to his execution. Lots of laughs, lots of tears...all worth it though

Tasha, yes, Doug was my one and only penpal. And yes, I sent off my introduction letter to another imate on Texas DR two weeks ago, and just received a reply on Saturday. I was flipping through the mail when my husband brought it in and saw that ever-familiar return address...I was soooo excited!! I have to admit, it was hard to see that return address without Doug's name attached to it. However, it's my hope that I'll be able to honor Doug's memory by providing friendship and support to one of his deathrow brothers.
