Well, the event was great... I arrived at the beginning of the conference beoucse I had to work there, and the only bad thing was weather.. they had to walk under the rain and it was not good... I think it was a great conference, becouse people who talked, shared with us their real experience, directly from their lives and heart.. I'd like to remind you that yesterday it was the anniversary of Ruth Pelke's death, and the day was dedicated to her. Bill Pelke, a very Ruth's grandson, was one of the relator and I really couldn't stop crying during his partecipation.. it's incredible what this man changed in his life and in his heart during this years and after the terrible lost of his grandmother.. he really has a lot to teach with his experience...Shujaa Graham talked about his life on California deat row lasted 4 years and you could still see pain in his eyes, even he is free now.. All these people are working hard, and, with their pain in their hearts, try to change world from death penalty. I think it's the best lesson to learn. And I am still crying. Ela

yes, that's it! Paula Cooper, 15 years old was sentenced to death, and saved from that with the help of Bill Belke himself; He told us she's still in prison, she got a degree, and she will be out in 10 years more or less... and most of all HE told us that Paula now is a new person, different and HE is glad she can live her life becouse this is what his grandmother would have wanted for her.... No words about that...

Dear Friends
I wanted to tell you how much i enjoyed meeting each and every one of you. And to know of all your work in behalf of human rights and against the penalty of death.
It is important to know that there are so many in Italy who would work on such important issues. I again want to thank the people of Italy for all of thier work and dreams of a better world.
It was also exciting to be part of the conference in Modena. This was the first conference and march in this city and much was learned in the process. And now we can see the opportunity to do even more. We need to thank the committee of Modena for raising the money and setting us down the road to more work in behalf of freedom.
Some of us were able to attend a concert by Steve Earle and the Modena groups was able to get 92 signitures on the first petitions by the people of Modena...We now can see that we can do even more with music and human rights.
Some of us came from the USA to lend our voices and ideas to the good work of some many indviduals. You in Italy help us to be strong in our fight for human rights.
Many of you write to prisoners on death row and this helps to give them back a bit of thier humanity. You have given many hope and love when they were in their most difficult moments. The work of the citizens of Italy has made a big difference in our work for abolition.
I and my friends from the USA met many wonderful inviduals, saw beautiful buildings, churches and art. In addition we were treated like kings and queens by out hosts who fed us every food of Italy... IT WAS ALL WONDERFUL.. We were welcomed as friends and family and it was well worth the travel and time spent.
I will put you on my mailing list so that you can continue to recieve updates on my work and dreams of a world with out violence.
yours in human rights
