not long ago a post of mine on another board caused quite some controversy when i mentioned the nazis and their methods of annihilation of human life in one sentence with the death penalty .. let me go deeper into the reasons for that and lets start a psychological discussion here if you agree:
nazi germany hated jewish people and gypsies (to name just 2 groups of those they systematically murdered) .. jews were "guilty" of being jews and gypsies were "guilty" of being gypsies .. now this hate was given a justification to kill (keeping the "race clean" getting rid off "the enemy/the damager") and people went along with it ... its human nature of a strange kind ... give humans a justification to kill and they will either do it themselves or support it
now lets cut the word "nazis" out as well as the terms "death-penalty" and "death penalty supporters" ... you ll still have the same result when it comes to "justifications" to kill ... one more thing that adds to these legalized killings is the so called "authority complex" which makes humans even more supportive of killing or even willing to kill themselves
example: "i agree with it yes but then again it was an order/law too" ... this authority complex is being used to make it easier for humans to support killing or to do it themselves cuz it gives them a chance to FORWARD the responsibility instead of having to take it for their actions themselves ... so looking at this background i am almost 100% sure that if killing of a certain group of human beings would be legalized today (here in the USA or anywhere else in the world.. declared "lawful" and badged as an act of "justice and order" then we would have mass murder in the streets by tomorrow ... it is part of human nature and as soon as any kind of justification is being given by any kind of authority it WILL be used to condone all kinds of atrocities ... do i have an explaination for this kind of human behavior? NO I DONT but maybe one of you has an idea ...
