Heather Garraus did not die because of infidelity, a Larimer County prosecutor told a jury Friday.
She died because she was too faithful.
“This case is not about infidelity. The defendant is not on trial for being unfaithful to Ken Nelson. Ignacio Garraus is not on trial for being unfaithful to Heather Garraus. This case is about fidelity, ladies and gentlemen. About Heather Garraus being faithful. The brutal murder of Heather Garraus was because she was faithful. She was faithful to a husband who did nothing but cheat on her,” Larimer Assistant District Attorney Cliff Riedel said.
“The defendant was a messenger of death to the marriage of Heather and Ignacio Garraus. And she was the messenger of death because she felt she had no other option. Heather Garraus was executed because she was too faithful. She took the vow, ‘til death do us part,’ too seriously. The defendant believed it, too. She believed Heather Garraus would be faithful to death. And so she killed her.”
