Hi, my name is Jessica and I have been raised very catholic and very conservative. Because of my catholic background, I do not believe that it is up to us to tell him when he will die. I say he can sit in prison until he dies. I just hate that Pres. Bush's name is smeared all over this site. In 1999, before bush was even in office, 98 people were executed, which is the highest since the reimplication in the 70's. In 2007, only 42 people were executed. Clinton killed twice as many in one year than Bush did. Instead of making it clear to everyone that our president is from texas where execution rates are high, note that 1. he does not oversee all the executions (you might want to talk to congress about that) 2. he cut the number of executions in half compared to Clinton, who while campaigning took a private jet to Arkansas to go watch severely mentally handicapped Ricky Ray Rector, who got a cake for his last meal, ate some and said he would save the rest for later, be executed by lethal injection. Rector even helped them try to find the vein. Clinton wanted to watch to prove the point that he would be tough on crime. that's one way to do it but it just shows me, that there could be worse presidents when it comes to the DPs. compared to clinton, bush didn't do a damn thing- instead of smearing his name on here, write the names of the victims these offenders killed. No they do not need to be put to death because that is murder, but they do deserve to rot in prison

It might have come up here and there but isn't the basis of too many discussions on here. This site isn't about presidents or former presidents, but about saving lives. The death penalty does have a better chance of being abolished in the future if we have a democratic president. Why use the word rot? They deserve to be in prison, but rot? That's kind of a discusting word, and not really a word we use around here.

Jessica, I have to agree with Pumpkinpie, I don't see Bush's name smeared all over this site. One poster has a picture of him on his avatar, but that's about it. So ... I think you exaggerate.
Why should we write the names of the victims? What purpose would that serve? This is an Anti DP Forum with one aim, to attack the Death Penalty, and bearing in mind many of us have family, friends and penpals on Death Row, then have some tact and avoid using words such as 'rot'.

She's probably seen the "Texecutioner" section of the web site
