A man accused of killing a female hotel porter, chopping her up and then dumping some of the remains in a Boulder City pond has been deemed competent to stand trial.

Defense attorneys for Perry Monroe have said he is a diagnosed paranoid schizophrenic, but after a nearly two-year stay at Lakes Crossing -- a state facility for the mentally ill charged with a crime -- Monroe has been deemed competent to stand trial.


"He's competent," Clark County prosecutor Vicki Monroe said.

Defense attorney Nancy Lemcke of the Clark County Public Defender's Office declined to comment on Perry Monroe's mental health status after a brief appearance by her client in District Court on Wednesday.

Monroe's case will now be sent back to Justice Court, where a preliminary hearing will be scheduled.

Monroe is charged with first-degree murder in the June 2003 slaying of Ladonna Milam, 49.

Authorities say Milam was a porter at the Hacienda, near Boulder City, when she was sent to Monroe's hotel room to deliver towels. She was never heard from again.

Police said they found some of her dismembered remains in the Veteran's Memorial Park pond in Boulder City. More body parts, including the victim's hands, were found in Monroe's car after his arrest in Fresno, Calif.

Perry Monroe: Serial Killer extraordinaire?

Ladonna Milam's body was found in parts in a Boulder City pond on Monday. Perry Monroe was found sleeping in his car in Fresno, California on Monday night. Police found more body parts in his car. His home: Alameda, CA.

Evelyn Hernandez' partial remains were discovered in San Francisco Bay in July, 2002, and police concluded that she, her son and her unborn child all were killed. Evelyn was 8 months pregnant when she was kidnapped. Her home: San Francisco, CA.

Rebekah Rachel Miller disappeared October 15, 2002, around 3:00 a.m. from Modesto, CA, twelve blocks from the Peterson home. She has not been found. Her wallet and back pack with other personal items were found where she was last seen.

21-year-old pregnant Alice Sin, of Pinole, CA, west of Sacramento, was reported missing on Nov. 21. Her body was found in January 2000 in the Nevada desert.

Angelina Joy Evans, of Sacramento, CA, was last seen at approximately 12:30am 05/21/01, getting into a truck on Fruitridge Rd., and Stockton Blvd., in Sacramento. She has never been found. She was 8 months pregnant.

In October 1999. pregnant Michelle Chan of Fremont, CA, disappeared. "We've never been able to come up with anything on her," said Julie Terry of the Fremont Police Department's missing-persons unit.

In December, 2002, 7 1/2 months pregnant Laci Peterson disappeared. Her partial remains and the body of her baby washed up on the shoreline of Richmond bay, CA.

Five of these women were pregnant, and six lived within the area Perry Monroe frequented, short driving distances from Perry's home town. The seventh lived in Boulder City, NV.

Perry Monroe, 29 year old from Alameda, CA, murders a stranger in Boulder City, NV, dismembers her, keeps the body parts for some satanic ritual or sexual perversion or just as memos, and dumps her body in a pond in Boulder City.

Heads back home toward Alameda, in the middle of the area of all these missing women, most pregnant. Is arrested in Fresno, the hands of the dismembered woman in his trunk.

It is known that Laci Peterson, Evelyn Hernandez, and Angelina Joy wore tattoos on their ankles. All were also pregnant.

Serial killer?

Or pure co-incidence?

Prediction: Though as of yet LE is denying any connections, Perry Monroe will turn out to be a serial killer in the manner of Ted Bundy, Richard Ramirez, Derek Todd Lee, and so many others.

Isn't that unbelievable? How they could say there is no possible way he could be a suspect? I think the Modesto Police are hiding something. The more i hear the more it sounds like they didn't want anyone but Scott to be responsible. This is obsurd! This is very important this information. Maybe you should post this to the Petersons??

ps. also, Ladonna's head was missing and they found the hands and feet of 4-5 different people in the trunk of his car. He lived within 10 miles from 3 of these murdered ladies.

It's a pleasure having you here, and you can ask any question or bring up anything you want.

Way back before Scott's trial, Perry Monroe was discussed. AW2B who posts here when she can started a thread called "The killer lives 10 miles from the Berkley Marina".... on CTV and those that thought Scott innocent began to post on that thread. It was the longest running thread in the history of CTV. Eventually the CTV agenda had it shut down, but Perry Monroe continued to be discussed even though he had been quietly put away in the nut house.

It has taken years for Perry Monroe to be found competant to stand trial. I really have to wonder if he was ever investigated for Laci's disappearance-- he supposidly didn't even realize he had been in Vegas, so I don't know how they establised he had an alibi for Dec. 24, 2002.

Well you know the MPD. If they couldn't somehow twist something to use against Scott, they ignored it.

It will be interesting to see how the trial of Perry Monroe plays out. Personally, I find it hard to believe that LaDonna was his first kill.

You know the more I read and the more I study everything that's going on i'm slowly coming to the conclusion that even if they knew Perry Munroe could have done it, they'll make SURE he has an alibi to say he couldn't have done it. Maybe that's why they stuck him in a nuthouse? They've erased his memory.. haha I know that's far fetched. But believe me, with some of the things i've read it really starts to make you wonder doens't it?

Maggie..you know Perry Monroe was my number one suspect for a long time as long as my thread on CTV.. until I heard that the Medinas's burglary occurred on the same day Laci disappeared, in fact, at around the same time..and above all, when I heard that Deanna Renfro pawned what I firmly believe to be Laci's watch...the burglars became my number one suspects.. having said that, Perry Monroe is still on my list of suspects, he is a close second to the burglars..

It is amazing that 3 women's bodies were found without the head..(La Donna, Laci and Evelyn Hernandez) their heads are still missing to this date !!!..we know for sure that one of them was killed by Perry Monroe "La Donna"..

I wish they would tell us where was he on Dec 24th?
