Personally, I'm all for prison. Please lock up murderers with capital offenses for the rest of their lives. I don't want them out of prison to kill again. Thank God Texas now has LWOP! I feel much better.
I wish they had that sentence in May of 1991, however, on in 1975. A very dangerous man is due to be release in the next 10 to 15 years, maybe sooner, and he will still be young enough to rape and murder other children which he is in prison for here in Texas at the moment.

One thing, LWOP can be changed back to Life with Parole over the years. That is the bit that concerns me

Dec 30 1951 is the mans birthday I was talking about. I just had to varify for myself that he was still going to be young. Well, looks like he will be. See, he missed out on the death penalty and we didn't have LWOP here in Texas back than.
I seriously doubt LWOP will change to Life with Parole, esp. seeing that the Juv. just got off DR and when we didn't have the DP in the early 1970's when people on death row back then had their sentences commited. Therefore getting rid of the LWOP would not be a wise choice just for things like that.
People on DR are exhonerated or their sentences are commuted without any major law changes within the US, so DR will not prevent some from getting life sentence.
Thank God the exhonerated ones got out of prison in time. It's bad enough some innocent have been executed. It would be real bad if the 100 + were executed rather than getting off death row and that man who was proven innocent only 3 days prior to his execution date. Just think. He would have been executed if the actual murder didn't confess (who WAS executed, btw).
However, a man who deserves to spend the rest of his life behind bars will be release. Very sad. I hope he doesn't move back up here (which is where he is from, btw).

This is the 1991 murderer's birthday (convicted in 1991): Dec 14 1951. He's got another 27 years before he's eligible for parole (which Texas doesn't release as many as they like for people to think on parole, esp. murder cases...they do release sex offenders too soon, however that's a different story, website and debate). He will be about 81 before eligible. I'm not too worried about him.

Of course I believe in prisons - but I don't think LOWP should apply to everyone who commits a murder. I believe several can be rehabilitated and become productive members of the society again depending on why they murdered someone and their state of mind...

suzanne LWOP is not necessarily what we think it is in texas, my penpal sent me a big write up about it and he is sending me an article too....texas juries are not actually given a "choice"...it's a rather long explaination, if i get the time i will type what he wrote to me up and you can see what i mean
