What are the major problems
- Takes too long, - Inadequate representation for inmates - focus on trial procedures rather then adequacy of evidence

It sure doesn't take too long in Texas.....in fact the appeal process is way too short, especially if you compare Willis who was proven innocent after 17 years and innocent inmates being executed after serving about 8 years on DR.

You're right it takes too long, it should be much quicker. The convict knows he's getting the punishment and the victims family knows he's getting the punishment. The inmate should accept his fate and let the victims family get closure.
You don't go to death row for no reason.

If there are no problems with conviction, the execution should be carried out within months of sentence. If not, an appeal should take care of possible innocence evidence, another one of possible mental illness or retardation, being carried out the sentence 3-5 years after the trial.
