I think that dr inmates should be allowed to work in the prison theyre in, in exchange for education, and for all of there needs,eg clothers, decent food, art material, stamps, soap, more blankets, a fan, tv I could go on and on.... What do ppl think???
Sort of like a barter system where they cook, serve the food, clean, maybe make things they could sell, <<<< with this one I believe all money they make should be given to the inmate,,,,do hair dressing services, repairs to prisons, give instrutions to new inmates etc...
What ya think guys, I think I will start a poll on this one

Their parents or family can pay for it. Just like everyone else. Hmmm Mike.. if they had a rich family ( or even just a family) they probably wouldn't be there becouse they would have had better lawyers to defend them.... If american citizens don't agree in giving a public instrution to these guys ( with public I mean paied from the government) I think it should be volunteer. Volunteer or retired teachers who use their time to teach to people in prison.

Go round up the retired teachers who are just itching to spend time sitting around death row teaching an inmate how to count to four. People on death row want an education then all of you fine supporters should pay for it.

You know, I got an idea! The money we save in commuting all the death row inmates to LWOP sentences, we can keep sex offenders in prison longer so they aren't released to kill little children!
btw, I love you too, garp.

If they could gaurantee that the money to keep sex offenders locked up for life I could be swayed. A little. Why not execute sex offenders? I will always love you, my boo boo kitty.

The fees and tuition at my work is about $1100 a semester, books are about $750 or so, and room and baord is about $1500-$1700 or so per semester. Books depend on the major, plus it is easy to get grants and scholarships. Money is there. I would not mind if inmates got Pell grants. That would pay for the fees and tuition...

I didn't get a chance to get an education, or not a regular education. I worked in the prison laundry and the kitchen for awhile and later worked in the wood shop. None of this has helped me to find a job better than a fast food place so far but what can you do?

Get a job in fast food and work hard. If you work hard, you could go into management... Work at the laundry of a Nursing home. They offer benefits and tutition payments, sometimes.

I have a job at a Rally's but it won't pay the bills. The state kept me from getting an education. All the prisons do is make more criminals. I amde mistakes but I served my time so it isn't fair to still make me pay for it today. I am lucky that my family is helping me or I may have been forced back into a life of crime. I didn't even get any counciling when I was in prison. The state wants people to be criminals because they have keep the prisons full.

Have you tried the local trade schools?

Yes, but they are like you have a record and we don't feel safe around you. The local vocational school is ran by a guy who's car wound up in my shop and he is bad mouthing me. I apologized to all of my "victims" and they all had insurance and got new cars so I don't know why this guy is trying to keep me out. I did my time, four years this stretch, and still I have to pay for it. Just proves that I am a victim of the legal system.

I just don't have the grades to get in, I had alot of problems in high school, some of my teachers had it out for me and I was thrown out. I got my ged but my family won't front me the money to get an education right now because they say I need to show that I can stay with something, like my Rally's job. I'm hoping that my brother will give me a job at his business soon but he doesn't know if he wants me around that much. I'm trying to do waht I can.
