CCADP, why was this site set up? I've been registered with this site for a few weeks now, made a few wonderful pen pals, and had some meaningful discussions. But, I've had and viewed some fiery arguments too. If this is the Canadian Coalition AGAINST the death penalty, then I presumed we'd all at least be against the death penalty. Instead, I must put up with pros insisting that my friends must die, that I'm misguided in backing my friends, and that my friends are somehow less than human in insisting that they can only be "executed", not "killed". I do enjoy this site, but I also wonder what's the point in allowing pros to inflict arguments? What's the point in allowing them to be here at all? They're clearly not here to allow antis to change their opinions. There's merely here to insult antis. Doesn't feel like a coalition to me sometimes, Regards, Gill. x

Exactly gill! This is what I have been saying from the start! I felt that there should be only antis and respectful pros here because things like this happen. I saw maybe one or two respectful pros on here but that was it. I'm tired of reading all of these attacks and arguments.

Doesn't always feel like a coalition to me either. I am a moderator on another board which is a prison support forum, but we do have some anti death penalty forums. Those for the death penalty don't come to those forums, and it feels like a safe and secure place to discuss death penalty related issues, and also a place to talk about our pen pals without having to defend ourselves every time we say something. I don't mind a good debate, but the neat picking and comments made purly to provoke bothers me. If I want to read how sick, twisted and whatever my pen pals are, I can go to the pro board. But I wish I didn't have to read it here. No one has said that about my pals, but I know it would be said if I spoke about them and their cases.

Well they have spoken against my pen pal - Jody - insisting he is where he belongs (on death row) and that he didn't act in self defense, even though I believe that he did. Such are people who don't even know Jody. I believe my friend, and I will no matter what his fate, and I don't think I should have to put up with provocative people, who don't even know Jody, telling me he should die. CCADP; I urge you to think over this. With respect, Gill

This is why I asked in an early thread what people thought about this.
You guys tell me what you want.
Do you want me to set up a seperate section (like the general anti dp; jimmy dennis; other specific cases; family section etc that says :
FOR DEBATE ON THE DEATH PENALTY ISSUE
and then direct all such discussions there and then when pro stuff is brought up in other threads (if its just to antagonize; there may be situations where a comment or question is ok); just delete ?

Yes; At least that way I might be able to avoid such provokers insulting me and my friends. Although, in all honesty, it would be a blessing if disrespectful pros weren't allowed on this site at all. Thank you CCADP, Regards, Gill.

I know what u mean - however I don't want to be accused of not allowing other opinions here - I think we can educate average pro people - our site has; without people even being able to talk to all u intelligent and inspiring people in the past. There are no good pro DP arguments; I think that more and more the more I see them talk The average fence sitter viewing can see what they say; and what we say; and its clear who has the moral high ground..... hopefully this will make it better - for those that want to debate they can; they can still be heard (if they are respectful) and the rest of the board can stay a support area....

I have discovered a few pro death penalty people who is respectful, and I thank them we got the chance to communicate and share something together. For the rest.. it will be hard to NOT SEE, NOT HEAR, AND NOT LISTEN..... but I will try to do my best.. i've always tried... sorry Tracy if sometimes I got out of vent... We'll see. We need support and we try to give it to everyone need it on here.. this should always be our first aim... hugs, ela

I have to let you know how sorry I am for the post I started. It is just really getting to me and I have reached my point.
I have no problem with debates, but when people come on here (some with very questionable names) just to inflame us it gets to me. I think this new area is a great idea, but it won't stop some people from saying things in posts.
It is just a really bad day.
