Hiya Is this accomodation near or with access to Union C. Institution? so I can let my friend know? His visits were stopped last summer when he was put on a DR, a 'discipline report ' after a disagreement with a guard , and so far they've not been reinstated. The maximum time for this punishment is, I believe, two years but is reconsidered every few months, so hopefully he will be able to see his family again soon Great web-site, I'm so pleased to be here and look forward to learning lots and making new friends with likeminded people. Yes it sure is!
Both FSP and Starke are within sight of each other; so this is great for both; just need to reserve it through Sissel and Joan of Florida Support (I'm a member there too).

Dear Joan

Thank you for the honor and blessing of being the first resident of this lovely apartment. It was a very welcoming place to come to esp. because I would be entering for the first time a very different world one that frightened me. This cozy place allowed me a quiet place both to prepare for and ponder the awsome things that I encountered during my two day visit to a death row inmate You gave me a place to be still to become calm and peaceful so I could enter his world and give him a place in my heart that was also a calm & peaceful place for him

I just got a letter from Pat in FL's UCI, thanking me for sending the print-out for the $5 accommodation. He said he had received a newsletter from the Florida Support Group with the same info . Now he anxiously awaits the news to hear if his visits have been reinstated, he should know by 24th June, and if they have, then his sister and brother-in-law will be up to see him on Sunday 26th Touch wood, am keeping my fingers crossed

Florida Support is a great group, actually the most active group that I know online...
I hope your friend gets his visits back real soon

Yes they put out a newsletter for all Florida death row prisoners; helped to buy some fans for them in the heat last year; buy books monthly from Amazon for prisoners.

Yes, Pat has talked quite a bit about his new fan and how relieved and grateful he and all the other guys are to have them , he said it was torture before they got them, it was like living in a sauna I didn't realize it was the Florida Support Group who got the men these fans, all Pat said was it was a local group, so good on the FSG I am going to e-mail them now to ask can I join.

Here is the web site for the Florida Death Row Advocacy Group who I am assuming is the Florida Support Group being refered to above? This web page has a lot of great information specific to Florida's death row. And in one of the archived newsletters you will see how much impact those fans had last year and the work that went into getting them to all the inmates.

Thanks for clearing that up...I just knew of FDRAG and the work they did for the fans so was a little unsure of the Florida Support group! It is just great to see these types of support groups for people.
