Hy there!
I would like to introduce myself to you! My name is Nicole, I´m 31 years old, happily married and I´m from Germany.
I stumbled over a discussion about the death penalty a few months ago and pondered long weeks over it.
What came out is that I wrote to a Deathrow Inmate. I did not found him on this webpage.
Because I´m writing from Europe I searched the Penpal-requests of an organisation called "Alive e.V". There the penpal requests are in english and in german and the prisoners asking for penpals know that it is possible that people from Germany are answering. That was important to me because letters to Germany are more expensive than letters inside the USA.
I did this not out of charity that I wrote to him but because I felt that those people are still humans and deserve some humanity. I guess I hope that, with my letters, I´m able to accompany these people on their way to death.
In my opinion killing is not the way to show people that killing is wrong.
Please apologize my english. It is not my native tongue and I guess that it will be a little bit awkward and sometimes there will be mistakes.
So, if there are any questions please feel free to ask me and I will try to answer them!
Many greetings from Germany
Nicole

Hy Tracy,
yes, Petra is doing a great job! It is mostly because of her organisation that I became involved in writing to an Inmate. And in surfing the Internet on this issue I found you and your wonderful organisation.
I´m very glad that I found this message board and I will be writing as often as I can. Hopefully my questions won´t be to silly...
Thanks for the welcome!
Many greetings from Germany Nicole

Hello and welcome. My name is Lene and I am from Norway. At first I was very concerned about the language issue also, but most everyone think it is great to get to know people from other parts of the world. At least my pals think it is great to learn more about Norway and Europe. I have even taught them a few Norwegian words. I think you manage very well considering English is not your native language. And believe me - you will learn a LOT as you continue to write your pal - and also read on the board. I am looking forward to get to know you better
