Hi Bob - welcome to the forum.... All opinions are allowed here with the understanding that we all remember the people here come from lots of different experiences; and include family members and friends of death row family prisoners; family members and friends of victims who hold opinions on both sides of the issue; anti death penalty activists; investigators and many more - the only rule is that we all respect each other - and treat each other as if we were conversing face to face Again, welcome! Thanks for joining the discussion.

Hi Bob! From a 'previous' adamant and totally DEFIANT upholder of the DP, until well over 45 years old ... I can tell you, INVESTIGATION, coupled with KNOWLEDGE and upheld by TESTIMONY changed my mind. Having written that, I wish it to be known that the fact I do NOT support the DP does NOT mean I believe that most of the perps are innocent. There are some, whose crimes have been so heinous that they DO NOT DESERVE to see the light of day again. YES! I DO feel sorry for their relatives, offspring (etc) ... however, NO human being has the legitimate right to walk (and stalk) our society and snap the lives of the innocent. BTK, Manson, Bundy, this latest Jerry Hobbs character ... etc. I do not believe they have a place on our streets. But ... to execute them is OUR .... REPEAT "our" vengeance. Not theirs. To execute them not only costs millions, but also means WE HELPED THEM HIDE. No, no, no. I disagree with the DP, especially in light of the latest DNA tests and technological advancements made to forensic science. Not withstanding the above, if they kept the WORLDWIDE sanctioned privileges of all DR prisoners and ensured that those who are on LWOP were stripped of *some* privileges, then I could live realistically with that. But NOT with the DP. Example: Take a lustful, demonic serial killer. His GREATEST JOY is the last breath as his tortured victim takes his/her life. HOW different are we (the 'normal') when we watch with equal pleasure a convivt's last breath? Satisfaction? Yeah, right. THEN ... you must define moral satisfaction as it is to one man as opposed to immoral satisfaction as it is to another? WHO determined MORAL Right vs Wrong? When and HOW? and more imprtantly W-H-Y? And clandestinely: don't 'we' .... get a thrill when 'that' life is snuffed by law? W-H-Y ?? Answer that? WHY ?? Or is it simply because the LAW allows one man's pleasure and joy in calculated and planned extermination, but convicts another's purely because that 'other's' was random?? What ? Where does the (ehem) 'satisfaction' divide, darlin? I really need to know this. No. I feel absolutely NOTHING, zilch, zero ... for the likes of Manson, List, Bin Laden, Dahmer, Gacy, Bundy, Peterson, Huntley, Hacking, Hobbs, Joseph P Smith, Frederick Baer, Westerfield, Jeremy Jones, Ridgeway, Rameiez, Capano, Preppie Murderer ... etc. They're vermin.... IMO they're all 100% guilt for that which they have been convicted. Zero doubts, zero shame, zero excuses. there's VERY LITTLE in fact almost nothing that will change MY mind.... But!!!!!!!!!!! I certainly pray I never, ever, ever come close enough to say that I feel some sort of 'pleasure' of an orchestrated death as the pro-DP campaigners celebrate. Half of me says "What if? ??" .... Exactly: WHAT IF one of these guys, like Jimmy Dennis, is innocent .... while the other half of me not only supports that, but ALSO says: DONT let me EVER "enjoy" this final demise. Pray God I NEVER celebrate a death.... Pray God I never laugh and taunt and demoralize that which He hath created. BUT .. so as He hath created, so shall He break 'em down. (and NOT by man, but by life itself). The latter being my words and views. Phew. This is hectic. Signing right OUT. Always in peace: let them live in turmoil and not in death: Moon.

Hello Moonriver, May i just say that one of my posts didn't appear so i will try again. Firstly i am here to learn the other side of things, i am polite and will never post anything offensive. I respect other peoples opinions and am sensible enough to know that i am in a minority (not just on here but probably worldwide) and as such i am beginning to question myself, Hence the fact i am here to learn. But as i stand today i am still pro Capital Punishment exept for the Mentally ill.

UK Bob, Hi and Hello and welcome to "OUR OPINIONS INC" ;D Thaml you for responding; first up, let it be known I've experienced the *worst* in terms of immediate family abuse and death. I now and feel more than the majority (but far less than the minority) just what that feels like. MY story is mine. It need go no further. It is old and it is (perhaps) biased. It does beter where it lies than to be brought out and flogged among the unknowns of this world. Suffice to say ... I've changed. No more, no less. i have changed. And not too soon, either. I pray you're flexible, that's all. Not flexible in your opinions of guilt and punishment. Just flexible in YOUR preference as to who lives ........ and who dies. God walks with you and He'll continue to, whether you know this or not, be there. And perhaps, just PERHAPS ... God is ALSO your conscience but He is not your voice. That's yours and yours alone, Bob. Goof luck and many blessings... Peace. Moon

Hey Bob, welcome. I admire that you are wanting to know what "the otherside" thinks. To be honest, some times it hurts to think too much. Our thoughts are mostly filled with the knowledge that some day we may have to watch someone we love die. So please, try to understand that some times our responses will mostly emotional and just be patient with us.

Hi there, the I'm all for it head line was a bit of a shocker ! Thought must be refering to a new ice-cream flavour or for free school dinners or something, Not the DP, Especially considering the recent releases of D R prisoners who were found to be innocent. That is always my basic concern if you use the D P what about people wrongfully convicted esp when the justice system has so many flaws. So I was so pleased to read your later post of having an open mind, cooooool !! UKfoto

welcome. i imagine you could be persuaded to change your ideas, or else you wouldn't be here, in this anti DW site. obviously, i'm anti-death row. whether innocent nor guilty, murder does not justify murder. but i'm sure you'll level your interest. have a good one. gill from ireland.

Hello and welcome. Since you are opposed to executing mentally ill people - maybe you would agree that it is wrong to execute mentally retarded people - and juveniles - and innocent people - and those who had ineffective counsel and therefore not a fair trial.... and the list is longer. And before you know it - you are anti death penalty too

Hello UK Bob, pleased to meet you, glad you've come along to listen to the other side. I am NOT for it, under any circumstances, full stop. My view is that life in prison is adequate, having to live with the crime they've committed for the rest of their natural life is punishment enough in a civilised society. Look at the number of miscarriages of justice we've had here in the UK alone in the past say 15 years ? Most of these innocent people would be dead if, god forbid, the DP was still in operation, Guilford 4, Birmingham 6 .......you know the rest. Does your conscience not tell you killing is wrong? You're in good company here and welcome, as long as respect is reciprocated. Mo

Hi Lene, To quote you "Hello and welcome. Since you are opposed to executing mentally ill people - maybe you would agree that it is wrong to execute mentally retarded people - and juveniles - and innocent people"
i think it would be hard to find anyone who wishes to see an innocent person executed, as for the mentally retarded it would of course depend on how mentally retarded they are, 1 example say a person of 40 50 60 etc years of age but with a mental age of 21 was due to be executed then no i wouldn't have a problem with that.
Respects to all Bob

I don't think that mentally retardation works that way - as in your example, but I understand what you mean. As for it being hard to find someone who doesn't have a problem with executing innocent people - I wish!!

Hi Bob I never gave a thought to the death penalty, I new there was a death penalty for certain crimes, and that many country's have it, but I didnt know how it was carried out, how long men/women live in a cage untill the day of execution, and the fact that many inocent and mentally retarted people were executed...
Thankfully that all changed the night I found this site, read the posts and started reading uncensored..... Bob I would really encourage you to do lots of investigating, read lots of posts, and read uncensored, it shocked me and I believe it will shock you...
Great to have you here and I look forward to getting to know you. Tasha Australia
