Hi,
My name is Janet and my place of residence is Toronto, Canada ... home of the CCADP, an organization to which I'm proud to belong.
Recently, I returned from a visit to a long time friend on Death Row in Mississippi. It's a tragic, lonely place. Each time, upon my return, I feel pain and anguish. These, however, foster my commitment to ending the death penalty world wide. This is possible with the increasing unpopularity of this barbaric practice. While little worthwhile never occurs overnight, we really are making strides ... albeit never as quickly as we would like.
One continues to hang in there and do everything within our abilities to further our beliefs.
I find myself becoming 'preachy' here, so to those who are new ... welcome.
Janet

Hello Janet! Nice to meet you! My name is Emma, i am from Europe. I have a friend and a loved one on Texas death row. Another friend of mine hung himself lately. Death row is hell. Inmates are not treated like human beings but worse than animals If you need any help, post a message and everyone will be here for you. People are wonderful .

Hi Janet! GREAT TO MEET YOU! ;D I can totally relate to how you feel after visting someone in prison. I live in Norway, so I can't do it as often as I like, but I do as often as my wallet and other responsibilities allow. At times, I've felt that this is so incredibly hopeless anyway that I'm wasting my time banging my head in the wall. At times, I've felt that all of my efforts trying to raise awareness are all futile because most of the time, I'm being met with the attitude that this is a David - Goliath thing - which is true. It is an uphill battle, although there have been some good developments lately. Like the Ring v. Arizona case, Atkins v. Virginia and the fact that the US Supreme Court FINALLY figured out that executing people under the age of 18 is madness. Who knows? Maybe the death penalty will be abolished bit by bit, and hopefully, the powers that be will sometime realize that the system is in fact broken and there is no use trying to fix something that is so rotten that the only solution is to throw it out alltogether. Forums such as this one, gives me encouragment and enough belief that this will come to and sooner or later. I'm really glad to see you here! Hoping to get to know you better as time goes! Love, Turid
