Commutation of death penalty on Chiong sisters' killers eyed
JUSTICE Secretary Raul Gonzalez has recommended to President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo the commutation of the death sentences of 7 convicted of the kidnapping and killing of the Chiong sisters in 1997.
Gonzalez said he endorsed to the President the commutation to life imprisonment from the death penalty meted on Juan Francisco Larranaga, Rowen Adlawan, Ariel Balansag, Alberto Cano, Josman Aznar, James Andrew Uy, and James Anthony Uy.
The 7 were found guilty of raping and killing sisters Jacqueline and Mary Joy Chiong.
