POSTED: 7:40 am EDT August 26, 2005 UPDATED: 7:50 am EDT August 26, 2005
NEW YORK -- A 23-year-old man, his mother and his girlfriend will be sentenced Friday after pleading guilty to first-degree murder for killing a jewelry store owner during a heist in Glen Head, Long Island.
Christopher DiMeo, 23, could be sentenced to life in prison after admitting to robbing and shooting Thomas Renison, 48, owner of J&J Jewelers, execution-style last December.
DiMeo's girlfriend, Nicole Pearce, 23, and his mother, Maryann Taylor, 41, face 15- and 20-year sentences after pleading guilty to robbery.
DiMeo could get the death penalty if found guilty of killing a married couple in Fairfield, Conn., after robbing their jewelry store in a separate incident. Owners Tim and Kim Donnelly were shot and killed on Feb. 2.
DiMeo and Pearce also face robbery charges in Rockland County.
The pair allegedly embarked on the robbery spree to support their drug habits and stole more than $300,000. © 2005 by WNBC.com. All rights reserved
