Inmates sell letters?? Who on earth would buy them??? And who are the inmates selling the letters to? Deleted by Suzanne This is a support area. I think you will find that it is phoney people like yourself that sell letters, they are from death row inmates and not to them.

i am an avid pen pal of 2 DR prisoners, 1 in texas and 1 in california.. i'm in a happy relationship i am sure if a person saw me then they wouldnt dream i would write to a person on dr. i dont think i could ever consider dating an inmate because of distance, in texas your behind glass you cant even hold hands there treat like caged lab rats there.. i think they deserve a little bit of dignity.. and respect..

To me no matter why they are there DR'z are still people w/ feelingz of loneliness among other thingz and need peepz like us to remind them that sum still carez how they are , whut they've been doing and their livez. Understand that sum of them have been ostracized by their own familiez having no visitz or letterz to look forward to. If sumone like me can bring a smile to their face with even one sentence I am more than happy to do so.

Who writes a D.R. inmate you ask? Well. I do. I am not a famous person, nor a wealthy one, actually if someone would have told me 5 years ago that I would be; I would "say your nuts" However today I have a special friend on Cal. D.R. and we write each other every single day.
Actually I am here on CCAPD because of her situation and our friendship that grows with each and everyday. So if someone like me can end up here I see no reason to think "most" other people are any different.

Hey! I do I have been writing to a man on Death Row in Nevada for a while. We have an amazing friendship. We are both open and honest with each other. I don't know who enjoys this friendship more, me or him. I care deeply for him, in a non sexual way. He is my buddy, my confidante, my sunshine. My day brightens up when I get a letter from him. I'm just an ordinary, everyday English woman. I'm happy in my life and I'm not a fruitcake

I think with hindsight, having gone through a long term experience (if you can call 4 years long term that is), I am inclined to agree ; it would really help to have some pointers about what to expect and perhaps to anticipate, when entering into correspondence with a death row inmate. For my part, I assumed too much about the normality of the person I have been writing to and consequently, have been disappointed and dismayed in some ways and pleasantly surprised in others. It is the negative aspect that I would want others to avoid. Well, to the extent that they at least know what they are getting into. We all have our good and bad points no matter who or what we are but on DR, they have a whole host of additional and far more extreme issues that are particularly difficult to handle without being entirely au fait with the way they live and their past histories. I have had to adjust a lot to be able to cope with the correspondence. My penpal became too needy and I am having to slowly cut down on the correspondence which saddens me but I know it is for the best all round. It would be interesting to hear about others' experiences, on this thread??

Well I write to a DR inmate in NC. I started because Tina C. and his Mom asked me to,I believe I am the only one who writes him besides him Mom. He is a young man (23) and he has 2 small boys. His Mom keeps in touch with me also. He is a funny, witty man and I totally enjoy his letters,I am happy to be able to bring a smile to his face every few weeks.
PS... Devilschilde........whats your age? I was just wondering because of the way you spell I have a teenage daughter and thats how she writes also.......just wondering!! Bless All Alyce

Did I get it right in this thread? In tiny print where I think someone's message was deleted by the moderator, it was suggested people out there actually SELL their penpals' letters for profit?!! Yuk. how absolutely horrible. You know, I have saved every single letter ever received from my penpal and despite all my emotional angst in relation to the intensity of his writings to me, I would not dream of destroying a single one of those letters or showing them to any third party. I box them away from prying eyes. I can't even bear to be parted from his artwork despite his inviting me to give them away if I wish. It would feel quite wrong. Like a betrayal of one's friendship.

Yes, anyone who would do that to someone is totally wacked out! I would never even think to do that to someone. Scott Peterson should pass that persons name and address around the prison, for doing that to him. How is it going with your prisoner friend anyway? Is he still being clingy?
