I'm posting this letter on behalf of Michael James Perry who is currently on Texas Deathrow. He asked me to make people aware of his case by posting this letter. Please take some time to read it and go to his web site:

Thank you!
WHAT IS A LIFE WORTH TO YOU?
In Governor Perry’s most recent, barbaric announcement, he stated that he wants to cut in half the number of inmates housed on Texas’ Death Row! And true to his word, not 2 weeks later over 15 people were kicked out of the 5th Circuit courts and shipped to the Supreme Court, a.k.a. “Our Last Prayer”.
The courts have recently given a man a date that had not even exhausted his appeals yet! In fact, he doesn’t even have to file his federal appeal until August! So the State of Texas is trying to slide one past us?? I mean, they do have a license to practice law, so they know that is it unconstitutional to execute a man before his appeals are up. Yet they attempt to kill him anyway? What does this say about the men in charge of Texas, the men and women elected to run this state?
Whatever may be gained from this petition, my purpose for once is not solely educational, but rather “selfish”. That’s right. This time it’s all about me. Let me explain.
Most of you reading this know of my situation. For those who don’t, please take some time to visit my web site; www.savemichaelperry.info. My case… My innocence…Is mapped out in the summary entitled “A Reasonable Doubt… And Beyond…”, which was written at least 16 months ago, maybe as far back as 24 months ago. Since then, so much new information has surfaced supporting my claims that those who know about it can only shake their heads and feel disgusted with their justice system.
Evidence is still coming out, and my family and I need help securing it all, which is why I come to you! There have been many new discoveries that must be investigated and brought to the court’s attention. Whether its funds, lack of time or of effort, my current attorney has not had, and does not seem to have, any plans to do anything. I have come to this conclusion after repeated attempts to get him to move. He personally went against my advise/request and scared away an important witness.
Time is running out. Sine I have now been denied in the State Habeas court, I have one appeal left until 5th circuit. This death sentence I have is no joke. This is no game. This state of Texas wishes to murder me, and they will do so unless I am able to successfully obtain the help I need. I need to get evidence documented and put on record so the courts may review it. As you see, they are not even waiting until our appeals are exhausted to give some of us a date!
I do not wish to become another statistic in the “Innocent Man Murdered” category. I’m asking for help as a prisoner, as a friend, as a human being, and as an innocent man who does not wish to be murdered.
Now, I want people to know that however “selfish” my request may seem, I am not just sitting idle and putting my hand out. I have written several organizations, attorneys, Senator Ellis, etc., and I am encouraging all to do the same on my behalf.
Selfish? I don’t know. All I do know is that I don’t wish to die. I don’t wish to be murdered. Will you help me?
In heart and struggle, I remain
