I have just discovered all this support of Scott Peterson. This is a day that i am EXTREMELY embarrassed to be a Canadian! There are people in this world who are not "fixable". I wish we could let only the people who support no death penalty pay the taxes who keep these (Modified) alive and breathing but no i am forced to also do so. I wonder how they all would feel if it was their family member who has been abruptly taken from the world in a cruel and dehumanizing way. This confirms that I have another great reason to move to Texas where they do support the death penalty. Wake up people!!! This is not getting any better...there must be consequences to these actions these low-lifes carry out. No one seems to be accountable anymore and you folks who support no death penalty are buying tickets for all of these scums who count on you to bail them out or give them some sad excuse to remain living on this earth that i also have to live on and try my best to protect my family and friends from. Not only is this not fair but sends a wonderful message to all the up and coming death row potentials..."go ahead and kill someone, it's ok, you may get a few years but you will be out to have a life soon!" I'm so thankful I am out of this country soon....Texas is gaining a new best friend to the death penalty...I can't get away fast enough....good ridens CANADA!

Yes, the message it sends is that punishment is possible without death. The criminal is in fact being punished more living their life among the general prison population, than they would be living alone in a cell for 20 some years on death row. So you wake up. Your right, Canada doesn't deserve you... You belong in Texas with all the blood thirsty revengeful pros. Goodbye.

See how long it takes to convince Clarence that Texas is better than Canada.

:)Jennap - you will love it down here. Every evening we remove our cowboy hats, hold them high in the hair towards Huntsville, and yell "yee-haw." Seriously. you better learn how to coexist with people that have a different opinion than you on sensitive topics..that is a fact of life. Yes, a majority of Texans support the death penalty, which is consistent with the consensus in most other states as well (Depending on which poll you look at, between 60% and 70% of Americans agree). The main difference is that we tend to follow-through on carrying out the sentence more frequently. But you will find many people down here with opposing views, and they pursue their agenda aggressively. So if you think you are headed to pro-heaven, you may be disappointed. Now you will be happy to hear that we have hockey. Your right, Canada doesn't deserve you... You belong in Texas with all the blood thirsty revengeful pros. Goodbye. [/quote]

IIRC, given the choice of life without parole or death as punishment for homicide, 70% of Americans choose to impose LWOP on offenders.
