Let's examine the exchange Scott had with Amber regarding that statement he supposedly said----> I lost my wife
Phone call transcripts:
FREY:But isn’t that ironic how Scott when I first met you on our date how you told me you were going to Maine with your family and you were going to Paris and Europe and all these things. And then you came to me after Shawn had found out that you were married and you came and told me this elaborate lie about her missing and this tragedy and that… PETERSON: No. FREY: And that…that this will be the first holidays without her? PETERSON: Sweetie, I never said…Amber I FREY: Yes. PETERSON: I…God, I don’t want to fight with you. Um…you know that I…I never said tragedy or missing. FREY: Oh, yes, you said you’ve lost your wife. PETERSON: No. That…that…yes. FREY: You said obviously without me saying much, but we were… PETERSON: I said that I lost my wife. FREY: Yes, you did
I think she was coached by the police to twist his words to make them more incriminating..they wanted her to put words in his mouth..hoping he would go along on tape..Scott was not aware that he was being taped... and he didn't want to fight with her....
She claimed that AFTER Shawn's confrontation Scott told her on Decmeber 9th that his wife was missing and he's going thru a tragedy etc....when he completely denied saying that....she changed it to----> "you told me you lost your wife"..
This is an indication that those words were not his ....first, she went with a statement that would have been the most incriminating..-----> "you told me on Decmeber 9th that your wife was missing" but the key here is the police wanted him to agree on tape or just be passive and let it stand...when he denied it, she went with a different statement--->"you told me you lost your wife"..that statement could have several meanings..so they hoped Scott would be confused and would think that he might have used those words when he confessed about being married...
What was missing in Scott's conversation with Amber is --->how he lost his wife...had he told Amber how he lost his wife she would have definitely referred to that statement..the reason they never talked about how Laci was lost is because probably Amber never asked that question...and IMO the reason Amber never asked that question is---> Scott didn't use the word "lost" when he confessed to Amber about being married..I think he used these words" we're no longer together"..I heard that in the initial police reports Amber stated that Scott told her that him and his wife were no longer together...I think those reports were in one of the books published about the case...can anyone verify that? However, when Amber confronted him with "I lost my wife " statement, he probably could not remember the exact words he used, he was lying anyway, he thought he possibly could have said that...at that point, he had no idea that Amber had a motive to twist his words..he had no idea that she was working with the police..

Exactly AW2B........
The point is how the MPD and Amber manipulated Scott's words to fit their so called "theory"....
Well we know the MPD did it to secure a conviction, get political favor and a big ego-buster at ANY cost..... but...
Amber? I think she was just scorned and pissed..... I really do.

I agree with you Maggie...she was very angry because she realized that Scott never loved her..he only loved his wife "Laci"..she helped the MPD in their quest to secure a conviction...

Amber was a 5-week lay that was all. Scott did not kill Laci and Connor for anyone especially this pathetic little ignorant girl.

I am wondering , but how do you know he did not kill her, were you there when the murder took place? I think he is guilty, I think... I do not know because I was not there that night. And I guess in the end only Lacy and Connor would be able to tell, the way this messed up case looks like.

Howv do you know; were you there...?
Anja I am surprised to see this comment from you; it could be said to you or to anyone else about the prisoners they support in innocence cases; including all the Florida cases we have worked on where the person has walked. The thought the person might be innocent in whatever case does not come only from eyewitnesses in a case of course; but from those who have studiously studied the issues in the case; the court record and appeals; conflicting experts statements etc....in ANY case; and i wish people would realize - on both sides - that the Peterson case is a death row case like any other- only difference is the media spotlight which has hurt not helped the man.

Howv do you know; were you there...? Have to add something to this comment, as I post below, I am sceptical about innocent cases, where the guys claim innocence, and I always say that I do never know for sure, as I have not been at any murder scene yet, and hope I will never end up being at one... I would say that about any of my penpals too if their case came up here for discussionAnja I am surprised to see this comment from you; it could be said to you or to anyone else about the prisoners they support in innocence cases; including all the Florida cases we have worked on where the person has walked. As I could not respond as a guest anymore... don't know what happened, I changed my display name... Oh I did not mean to say that I want him where he is, but I do have problems with people saying they are innocent, I am sceptical at first. As I said, no one was there to be 100% sure what has happened... Sure the media did not help this man, and yes indeed he might be innocent, but people thinking something different get attacked here, I see no reason for that, we have nothing to proof his innocence with, not yet at least. If he is innocent I hope he can get out of the hell he is at right now, if not I want him out as well, I want him to serve time in prison though... (no I am not pro LWOP). But as I have said, I am sceptical about people claiming innocence, too many at the end apologize to the victims family. I wish that would not happen, because that makes it harder for all of us to find those that are truly innocent, and I am certain there are some on the row that are innocent and that should not even be in prison. On the other hand, I do not blame anyone for saying they are innocent, because I see that for some that is the only chance to save their life or to at least prolong it. And yes I know there are some that walked free, I also know that the CCADP has worked with some of the cases, and I do hope that we all find those that are truly innocent and be able to free them. But my main focus is not on the innocent people in prison, my main focus is on helping all those on DR, and getting rid of the death penalty.
