The United States banned her from what I believe. She lives in Montreal. Can anyone here tell me if Karla has moved to the States yet?

One case has changed your entire view on the death penalty? Yes, pumpkinpie, one case has changed it totally because of what transpired . Canada has no death penalty. In the U.S. women very seldom get the death penalty, and more than likely Karla wouldn't have gotten it either. Look at Mary Winkler and Andrea Yates, then look at Scott Peterson and Brett Hartman. Two men on death row based on circumstantial evidence ALONE. Two women who basically got away with murder. Then look at Karla's case, do you see a pattern? The problem is, the male gender is punished more harshly for crimes.

Even if it did happen in the states and they made the same deal...not getting the dp would be part of the deal. And, yes more men are executed then women...which is not fair...if your going to apply a punishment such as the dp at least make sure some women get executed... According to an article entitled "The Evil Within:The Twisted Minds of Paul Bernardo and Karla Homolka" by Anna M. Griffy in Justice Junction, Karla mentioned that she was moving to the States after her release from prison in 2005. And that was three years ago!

It's so extreme that men are getting the death penalty and women are getting 15 month sentences for killing their spouces. (such as Mary Winkler's case.) She should be in prison for life for killing her husband. I'm talking about equal punishment for men and women without use of the death penalty. Better jurors, especially for circumstantial cases, and less compassionate jurors for people like Mary Winkler.

...And from I've heard from certain individuals, Canadian daily life is topsy-turvy, so to speak! Then you have heard wrong.

She is automatically banned from most countries. The US even bans those who smoked dope 20 years ago - they won't let murderers in.

I agree that when a husband kills his wife it is murder but when a woman kills her husband it is self defence. There are other options then to murder someone..like calling the police..walking out etc. but the law doesn't see it like that. DP or LWOP murder is murder regardless of gender and thus people should be held accountable. On the self defence note..i thought u could only use excessive force in the states if the person was attacking you at the time..not if they are sleeping or turning their back and walking out. I know in Canda its equal force for defending yourself...so if a person comes at you with a bat you can't shoot them and if they are walking out or not hurting you at the time then there is no self defence case. Even if it did happen in the states and they made the same deal...not getting the dp would be part of the deal. Actually I read somewhere that she is allowed into the states but she has to provide a DNA sample as well as follow her conditions. According to an article entitled "The Evil Within:The Twisted Minds of Paul Bernardo and Karla Homolka" by Anna M. Andie, Do you really think that she wll comply??! if she doesn't she will be going back to jail. Probably not. She got a definite sentence, and the post sentence conditions are probably unconstitutional. Also I believe they have expired, so it is up to the US to let her in or not.

I don't think the conditions expire. Even though she is free now and paid for her crime she isn't allowed to talk to minors or have any interaction with them excluding her son. But then again not 100% sure. Andie, Do you really think that she wll comply??! if she doesn't she will be going back to jail. Probably not. happyhaddock, When was the last time you telephoned for an EMS to come quickly and a pizza truck arived quicker?
Andie, The reason why I ask is that, as a United States citizen, I must find out in which state she chooses to infest herself , and notify the authorities so that they can extradite her.
