As predicted, the case is over. DNA didn't match. Another rush to judgement by the media anxious to extract what they can from tragedy.

I really sensed he was just trying it on for publicity. He should have spent a bit of time in one of the cells on DR with my penpal friend before taking a stupid risk with his life like that. Some people just don't appreciate their freedom and quality of life when they are not institutionalised. Time for kick in karrump methinks, silly man

Hi Legally brunette! By the way, I'm a brunette also. I always think of that. And I have a little girl also. We have so much in common, I bet we're around the same age. Anyway, I dont think that guy should be able to have his freedom, he needs to go into a mental hospital like Andrea Yates. Maybe I sound a little harsh, I know he didn't kill anyone yet, but YET, is the key word. The man is into kids, and is probably a threat to society. I wonder why anyone would make a false confession like that. That makes him almost as nuts as the person who did this. That guy was creepy looking too.

I always say it's the brunettes who really have all the fun!! I agree that Karr needs sorting in some kind of secure facility. I still say paeds need their wotsits chopping off and some serious hormonal intervention - I think the Romans had it right with eunuchs!! They could probably earn a packet as male soprano acts.

I have a brunette story for you. I was at a country line dancing place one evening, and this was before I got married. I noticed some guy talking to a blond girl who I had seen around before. All of a sudden, the guy walks over and starts a conversation with me. I said, "I thought you were with her,"and I pointed to the blond girl. He said,"I like brunettes better." I only talked to him for like another 2 minutes after that, and then I went back to my country line dancing. But that line always stuck with me. So, how's it going with your pen-pal these days?

;D Liked the story. Had the dubious pleasure of sitting opposite a very stylish blonde on the tube once. She was applying her make up with great care. This had been going on for well into half an hour (there was a whole lot of art work going on) when the train suddenly surged forward in a tunnel and Blondie managed to get an entire lipstick stuck right up her nostril. Saying nothing about the great big RED line running from her lip right into her hooter. Of course I commiserated with her embarassment. The smirk was entirely accidental...
Had a desperately distressed letter from penpal some time end of last week, pleading with me to not ever stop writing. He said that he had stopped eating and couldn't think straight at the thought of losing my friendship and why did I have to object to sending funds etc etc. and he was thinking death was better than this etc. I was alarmed by the letter and quickly responded explaining that I wouldn't stop writing but couldn't keep up so frequently and the funds were a problem when it felt as if they took priority to my friendship alone quite apart from the amounts he expects to receive. In the meantime, his mother had been ringing daily complaining that I must have done something in one of my letters to stop him ringing her and I should think before I write things that could distress him and did I have to tell the truth like it is as he is very sensitive etc. (God I hope I never get this touchy about my kid, if so please give me a good shake and throw ice water over me to get over it!!). He then rings her yesterday and it transpires the phones were broken so he couldn't call and no, he was not at all upset about anything to do with me!! Hmm, he should be writing drama serials for the BBC...... So much for the agonised letter. Two words - dollar sign.

That was a funny blond story! Well, its good that your still writing to him then, but also that you've set limits so your not taken advantage of. How sad though. I know it would make me sad to read stuff like that.

Geez LB his mother sounds like a lunatic, lol... his letter seemed really depressed though. You have been writing for how long? Was it four years? I bet he has gotten really attached to the friendship. Imagine being alone 23 hours a day... every day for years... I'm glad you are setting some boundaries on the funds... he needs to keep the friendship in a healthy perspective so maybe that will help. Keep us posted By the way, I am a brunette, my sister is a blonde. I think I've had more fun ;D

Thanks ladies, your responses really raise my spirits when I am feeling down. I agree, that it must be HORRIBLE to have to sit in total isolation (bar the mad zoo like noises echoing at ear piercing levels around you) the whole day. My friend has only just started going out to yard, after a break of 10 years in doing so as he feared the violence between inmates and indiscriminate warning shots of guards so much. I have appeased da Big Ma by ordering a flowering plant to be delivered to her over there which she can nurture in her garden and I suggested she call it "wotsisname's flower" - wotsisname denoting her son's name by the way!! She liked the idea so she is at peace for a bit now.

... Anyway, I dont think that guy should be able to have his freedom, he needs to go into a mental hospital like Andrea Yates. Shouldn't he have a mental health exam by professionals first? Maybe I sound a little harsh, I know he didn't kill anyone yet, but YET, is the key word. The man is into kids, and is probably a threat to society. He may simply be hyper sensitive to the plight of all too many children I wonder why anyone would make a false confession like that. That makes him almost as nuts as the person who did this. That guy was creepy looking too. Being 'creepy looking ' is not a good guide to guilt. I recall a case where a hydrocephalic kindergarten helper was accused of and arrested for molestation. During the trial it became clear that his appearance was the sole reason for the accusation. He later sued and won a substantial amount. IIRC, his accuser was the wife of the then president of Jack in the Box -- at the time of the outbreak of E. coli bacteria in his restaurants that killed three Puget Sound children.

Ok your right, its real normal to make a false confession to raping and murdering a child. I think he is in prison now. Did you think that was admirable that he confessed to this? Did you think it was the act of someone sane?

Oh and dont come back with an answer stating "the law is this, the law is that." I'm not talking about the law, or about rules. Since I know you know every law. I'm talking about personal opinion.

;D Pumpkin, you really make me giggle with your comments!! I love finding your posts cos they are so spot on!! Now I am dying to know what HH looks like!! I guess he has a point about one's looks not being a fair determination of guilt - if 'shifty facial expression' were a test for paedophilic tendencies say, add on the dirty rain mac and one slumped shoulder and waddya got? Senior partner of my firm, that's what and I can tell you he is the gentlest purest guy around.

Yes, but LB I'm not talking about guilt, or all that lawyer stuff that I know you know so well because you are a lawyer. We know this man is not guilty, him being creepy looking has nothing to do with that, it was just personal opinion. I would never say someone was guilty of a crime because of there looks, and I haven't said that. Isn't that why I posted it in the John Karr case has been dropped section?

Did you think it was the act of someone sane? These were private emails to a person he thought was interested in finding the killer. He didn't offer his 'confession' first to the Boulder PD. They always sounded like he was saying "If I was the killer I would be thinking ...". Also, many people make false confessions - esp. to well reported cases.
