It seems that the issue of permitting concealed weapons is getting "big" lately.
I'm sure there are citizens who have to carry large sums of money from place to place, and jewelers who purchase gems may also feel that they need to defend themselves. But the average citizen?
Apparently the average citizen in Delaware has now become convinced that his/her life is in such danger that s/he needs to carry a gun.
To get a permit to carry a concealed weapon, an individual has to take a course, have a background check, and etc., but it seems that some judges refuse to issue a permit even if the citizen has complied with all the requirements. That has some folks terribly upset.
My thinking is that you really don't need a gun if you happen to be downtown after five o'clock in the evening. We sometimes go into town to have dinner or see a show, and I've never felt nervous at all. To read these angry letters to the editor, though, one might think that the downtown streets after five turn into a jungle.
What's going on here? Why are people suddenly so frightened? Any ideas?
