As you call know Carles Dean Hood has an exeuction date for June 30, 2005. As part of his defense team we will all continue to fight virgorously for a stay, but any date in Texas is serious. We have to work for the best, but prepare for the worst. An earlier thread posted this information, however for those of you that want to donate may do so directly to Mr. and Mrs. Hood at Charles Hood 4 Westwood Dr. Muncie, IN. 47303 Many thanks to all of you, and please keep the Hood family in your prayers. My thoughts and prayers are with the Hood family at this most trying time of there life. I pray a stay of execution comes through in time to save his life from being taken by the state of Texas.

Tina,
I'm assuming Charles' family received my check by now. Do they have enough to travel this way, yet?

Hey, Tina. Did Charles' family get enough money to travel? I sent a check directly to them. I hope they were able to get enough to come this way. Hey Suzanne, Tina & Irene phoned me yesterday. Was lovely to speak to Irene for the first time! We had a 3 way!! ;D Tina got her webcam I sent her, so I can't wait for her to get it up and running! Can just see her now, rollers in her hair with hairnet, cigarette dangling out of her mouth!!! ;D ;D ;D The Hoods are now in TX. Thankfully all the donations helped them. Miles xx

When I think of the Hoods, my heart aches. I know what it's like to be an unpopular victim because of my son's situation. I cannot even begin to imagine what I would have done if my son had been old enough for the death penalty. I do have a very clear memory of the day of his arrest; as I was hoping to die to escape the agonizing pain in my chest, I remember the attorney saying, "Well, at least at 14, Josh isn't old enough for the death penalty." It hit so hard to hear those words, even though I knew it would not be Josh's fate. It awakened within me the grim reality that it was the fate of others. I have since become friends with the mother of an inmate on DR in Starke. She moves through life with such grace, fighting the DP at every turn in hopes of saving her son as well as others. Whenever I start to sit on my own pity pot, Delena reminds me how much worse it could have been, but for the grace of only two years' time in Josh's case.
I have ingrained in my mind the image of Mr. & Mrs. Hood, in an unfamiliar place, after a very long drive, waiting for the State of Texas to kill their son. I imagine what their return journey home will be like. Which will be worse, I wonder? The journey there to say goodbye, or the journey home after it is over.

Tina posted that he received a stay earlier today so their fight against this evil continues.
