Wright To Address Democrats Monday
By The Morning News
BENTONVILLE -- Betsey Wright, known for her work in Bill Clinton's campaigns and as Clinton's chief of staff while he was governor, will be the speaker at the Democratic Women's Club of Benton County at 11:30 a.m. Monday.
The luncheon meeting will be at the Clarion Hotel and Convention Center in Bentonville.
Wright's activism has taken new directions in more recent years. She is following a conviction she made in her childhood that she felt capital punishment is inconsistent with the ideals of the United States and contradictory to her Christian faith.
She is an advocate and activist for death row inmates regarding conditions in which they live while awaiting final judicial review and scrutiny of their original trials and sentencing.
Reservations should be made by calling 855-1399 or 273-2274.
