Stack stars in 'Dead Man Walking' Boston College High School students, directed by faculty of the English and Guidance departments, will premier an adaptation of the Academy Award-winning film "Dead Man Walking" (1996). Canton resident Austin Stack, a senior at BC High, will star in the school's production in the role of the father of the murder victim. Robbins, the author of the adaptation and director of the film, made a special invitation to Jesuit schools and universities to perform the draft version of his play in advance of a professional production. The goal of his project is, "to widen the circle of public discussions on the death penalty." The play, based on the best-selling novel by Sr. Helen Prejean, CSJ, addresses the controversial issue of capital punishment through the lens of a nun who provides spiritual advice to a convicted murderer on death row.
