I'm from the UK. I'm looking to send money to an inmate. I've got my Money Order slip from my penpal.
I've asked the Inmate Trust Fund if they accept Moneygram Transfers, and they said no, and my bank has never heard of a Money Order Number and as usual isn't very helpful. Regardless of the fact that this slip I have has a space for Money Order Number, can I just leave that out and send them a cheque in US dollars made out to the Inmate Trust Fund?? They said they don't accept personal cheques when I asked if they would accept a cheque from my bank . . .

Hi I'm from the UK. I have just sent my pen pal money via an International Money Order. I got this from Barclays Bank. I have an account with them and they took the money directly from that. I'm not sure if you actually need an account with them to get the money order so please enquire first. It costs £8 for the order.

I would never send money and I've never been asked to send money. The most I've offered is to pay the postage for alot of writings he wanted to send me and he refused, I don't get why you would just give money...

www.jpay.com/AboutUs.aspxI don't know anything about this or how reliable it is. I'm just posting it but you need to make your own judgments. JPay is the fastest way to get money on an offender’s commissary account. Senders can use a credit card or a debit card to send money. The money is generally credited to the offenders account by the following morning. For more information about a particular state’s timing schedule or service fees, please sign up for a free account. To sign up, you will need the offender’s name and identification information. No credit card information is needed to sign up.

That's true, JPAY is very reliable, effective and simple. The inmate will have the funds in his account the next day (except if you send money friday night or week end). There is little fees but far cheaper than a Intl money order.

That's true, it's a personal decision. I do it because I know how bad their food is, and I know with some little extra money, he's able to buy something more 'decent' in the ran store once in a while. And also because he can buy some stamps and paper. He never asked, I did it because I wanted to.
