Dear CCADP friends, I noticed this appeal from Mudimah Bernard (posted January, 2006). I wanted to update you concerning Mudimah's situation. Mudimah Bernard has legal representation now, and is scheduled to appear in court for his appeal of the death penalty this December, 2007 or January, 2008. He is hopeful about the possibility of success in his appeal. (I have been corresponding regularly with him since February, 2006). I noticed that many people have read Mudimah's appeal (89), but no one else has written to him from this website. I want to encourage all individuals who visit this website to PLEASE consider writing to one of the inmates who has posted an appeal for correspondence. This kind of support makes a tremendous difference in the lives of the inmates (particularly those in Zambia), and it is very simple to do. Best wishes to you all! Sara

Dear Mudimah, I'm Kristi and am writing all the way from Australia. Don't despair,my heart is with you and all of your children. I have a letter on the way to you and would like to help all I can. Sending you love and hugs, Kristi (deleting your address for safety reasons! DR inmates have no internet access. The only way he'll see what you write, is if you write him directly!)

Dear Kristi, Mudimah will be very happy to hear from you! It takes a while for mail to reach him (12-20 days from US), and approximately 12-20 days for his reply to reach you. You will hear from him, as long as he is healthy. Your support and encouragement will mean a great deal to him and to his family. Bless you!!!! Saracmc

To Kristi and Saramc, I too am an Australian who writes to condemned and non-condemned inmates at Mukobeko Prison, Zambia. I support what you are doing, but am unable to write to Mudimah as I already have over the past 5 years been contacted by 199 inmates (mostly from Zambia)--and stay in correspondence with about 50 of them. I coordinate 9 relatives and christian friends who do likewise, and we send them clothes, stationery, bibles, cash etc, as and when we individually can. Gaining proper legal representation is one of the major hassles there, along with the dire lack of food, provision of clothing, and prevalence of malaria and AIDS.
Keep up your good work.
Clive.
