I have a cousin that is a forensic psychologist. He said pretty much the same thing...He takes about 40-60 hours to write reports. He works as an expert witness for death penalty cases...

we've been messaging offlist about this; i'm posting my reply here to the common comment that the vast majority of abused - even badly abused - go on to have successful lives :
some people aren't as damaged; some have more resources; some had someone somewhere who were knd to them or gave them a view of a better life and good people that cared. A criminology book i read quoted a guy who had been in and out of jail on drugs and minor things as saying "i know the only reason i never killed anyone is because i never forgot my grade 3 teacher Mr Whoever saying that he knew i was so much better than all that"... some people are stronger than others and find productive ways to deal and move beyond and promise themselves THEY will never be like that. Thats the vast majority. But not all people are like u and me Mike. and I've learned we can't judge people by our standards. On tv the other day bout juvenile executions a doctor was questioned and someone said 'you want to give them a second chance' and he said "who gave them the first chance?"
