I have been asked many times how I chose to write the ones I do when there are so many ads to choose from. So, what made you choose your pal?
I read a book about one of my pals, and that made me write him. That is what got me started in the first place. The book touched me, and I had to let him know. (This book is only written in Norwegian)
As I was looking for information about my "book pal", I came across ads everywhere, and I chose my second pal because of what he wrote in his ad. First impression was good.
I got to know my third pal because his fiance is a friend of mine.
My fourth pal - I got to know him through my first pal.
It really is true that one thing leads to another.

Hi Lene, I have 3 pen pals. One I wrote to before he was put on DR because I believe he is innocent.... (Scott Peterson), the other two I came across while looking for info on SQ- one page led to the next and the next.... and I found two people who were not getting mail from anyone. They both had short ads that made my heart break for them.... so I had to write. I'm glad I did

When i was browsing through all the requests i started to by-pass the ones that described what they LOOKED like physically, and concentrated more on what they were SAYING from their heart. The ad. which struck me was a poem about ' friendship ' so i went with my first impression, and am so happy i did, because this guy is one of the nicest people you could hope to meet, a ' forever friend '

Maggie has a thread where she discusses the case and media perception; and all the legal docs etc. we are in the process at Scott Peterson's request of putting together his CCADP page (I know ya'll at the pro site have been waiting for it...) so some of the defense exhibits; briefs; other reports etc will be included...there is something in PDF from prosecution and defense from March that is in the SCOTT PETERSON INNOCENT ON DR thread that Maggie started in the Other Specific Cases etc....

It really is true that one thing leads to another. Right now, I'm just writing to one inmate - Jody Lee Miles - I sent letters to two others yesterday. It does not matter to me whether Jody is innocent or not; he still shouldn't be on death row. He's admitted to shooting a dealer, but he only did it in self defense, as he believed the dealer was about to shoot him. Obviously, this is the fault of the American system for allowing citizens to carry guns, where they may be in mindless acts of self defense. Jody is essentially a victim. Heres to Jody Lee Miles. Hugs, Gill

I guess I'm not like "all the antis" then, because I believe that most people on death row are guilty. But that doesn't change the fact that I'm against the death penalty. There are few justifications for killing someone. But I can understand why a person would try. I think we all do that to a certain degree with things that went wrong in our lives.

I chose to write to my pal, Carl, because I thought he had one of the most genuine adds I had read. There was no protesting of innocence or asking for funding (I'm not opposed to helping with fundind of course, I jut wanted to speak with someone who had genuine intentions) I've only just begun writing to Carl, so I doubt I will write to another inmate for a while, if I do at all. How do you who write to more than one inmate find it? Are they aware that you write to others, do they take it personally? Just interested........

Well, I chose Paul because of his first request on the Alive-Site. In this first request he asked a lot of questions. He wanted to know if the person writing to him likes to dance, to sing, to cook. That sounded so much differend to the other requests that I instantly felt that I wanted to write to THIS man! His request has been changed later and the questions vanished but that makes no differenz. I got my first reply today. Nicky
