when SOME murderers get the DP and others dont?
would justice not mean to either
a) execute EVERY murderer
or
b) abolish the DP
to call it justice?
or is one victim more precious than another? if so then WHY?

Actually, I think that murder of an innocent civilian is an act of injustice...but maybe I'm wrong...

Hi Mo-Dawg....Arizonavet here...long time, no communicate with! You make a few assumptions here. Reason?....my reason for supporting the death penalty isn't only "justice"... It's because I honestly believe that no executed murderer ever killed again. No, I certainly do not want the ageing wife who performs a mercy killing to face the same sentence as the repeat murderer. No more than I want the cigarette pack thief to be sentenced to 10 years, same as the bank robber. The "worth" of the victim has nothing to do with the sentence, but it DOES show that one murderer might be far more likely to kill again. The honest wife/ mercy killer is less likely to kill again than a contract killer. It's all about the defense of our innocents. Always a pleasure Mo-Dawg!

Hi dear ... yes it's been quite a long time .. I've had a lot of discussions about "justice" over the years and I think justice depends on how one feels about it .. sharia law is justice in the eyes of many muslims, yet our cultural backgroud/society finds sharia offensive ... same with the DP in the western world .. the USA says/feels it's justice, Europe seems to be disgusted by it .. yet there are Americans who despise the DP and Europeans who are all for it ... now who is right? what view on justice is the right one? and.. IS there a RIGHT or WRONG view on justice .. after all these years I still don't know the ultimate answer

A nation that cannot make peanut butter without injuring children or ground beef without killing them is not competent to utilize such a penalty.

Hey...we make peanut butter as good as any nation on earth ;D Because we do not live in a perfect world....does not mean that a duly constituted jury cannot assess the death penalty. It DOES mean to me that we should only risk executing the most certain-of-guilt cases, of only the worst of the worst. Still, I must admit, it leaves the possibility of executing an innocent person, and yes, that DOES bother me. Does it bother you Happy, that unexecuted murderers escape, and are pardoned to prey on innocents again? Quite the quandry isn't it?

Can I ask why you Canadians want to get all up in our DP business, especially in my homestate of Texas? YOU are the country that allowed SERIAL KILLER karla homolka go scot free after 12yrs in prison, and now she's living a happy life on some remote island, with the blood of 3young girls on her hands, including her own natural sister! Yet YOU ppl want to point the finger at US??! and don't get me started on Guy Turcotte---this POS psycho slashed and chopped up his own two flesh and blood babies, aged only 3 & 5--and YOUR legal system lets that freak out on an Insanity by Depression defense, only 3yrs after the vicious attacks on those poor children!! and it was just ALL ABOUT REVCENGE on his wife. He would be on Death Row here in Tx, and for that I am proud and grateful!! It sounds to me like you peole need to get your priorities STRAIGHT. 2 dead babies, brutally murdered, are just dropped off the radar of YOUR country entirely, in order to spare Guy Turcotte. WTF?! He should've just put a big banner across his house for his estranged wife to see, saying "WAS IT WORTH IT, BITCH?" Cos that's all that that disgusting case of injustice was, to those poor children. It all boiled down to him, his ego and anger and rage at his wife that she had the unmitigated gall to have an affair. AND NOW HE'S OFF HIS PUNY ANTI-DEPRESSANT medication, cos he's snookered the Canadian psychiatrists into thinking that he's cured, LOL!! and he wants to have MORE children!! Sick, sick, sick. Please do not continue to point fingers of blame at Texas, when you refuse, ABSOLUTELY REFUSE, to seek justice for the most innocent and vulnerable members of your society. Way to go, Canadians. Way to go. I'm ashamed to share the title of "North Americans" with you rubes, you weak-willed serial killing rapists and baby-killer DEFENDERS. Ick, nast. You people leave a really bad taste in my mouth.

Do you not understand what Capital Murder means? Murders of passion, for no apparant reason and without motive or underlying motive don't usually get the DP, even in my home state of Texas. CAPITAL murder in Tx anyway is: Police or fireman during official duty or and who the person knows is a peace officer or fireman//Murder for renumeration or promise of, or recruits someone else to do it// Murder intentionally committed during the course of kidnapping, burglary, robbery, sexual assault, arson, obstruction/retaliation /Murder while escaping or attempting escape from jail/prison// Murder of child under age 6 (Tx)---((this is what would've gotten Canada's beloved Doctor Turcotte executed, btw, as he should have been))---//murder of a prison guard or judge//Multiple murder in 1 offense. GET A CLUE, MAN. How can you not know the difference between murder of passion, for example, and the rape/murder of a 4yr old girl? Or the murder of a minimum wage store clerk during an armed robbery netting like, $72? Texas is FULL of cases like these, just heinous, awful stuff. Of course no victim is more precious, except IMO, children and babies, being that they're utterly helpless, but the elderly also--- the point is, the motive in the murder. And no, your ideas of execute EVERY murderer--or abolish the death penalty---are just ignorant. Thank God, life isn't so cut and dried or black and white, and I think you know that, you're just playing stupid to start stuff here and to get your ya-ya's out. Sad.
