I thought America had the principle of an eye for an eye, this is the reason behinde the Death Penalty. To see justice served..some more than others it seems all depends on the state, please tell me the state does not make money from The night stalker being alive...It still does not give us the right to inprison someone in conditions not fit for a dog. what would happen if texas decided to stop executions forever. there seems to be pockets of anti and fors. how can you tell me you would comfort Peter cantus parents upon his death, do they deserve the pain..no.. has anyone of you read mark strogmans blog its called tamouzmedia3.wordpress.com/ read it its an eye opener and he says he is guilty..

I thought America had the principle of an eye for an eye Of course not. Where did you get such a silly idea? That's from the bible and the rule there is "no MORE than an eye for an eye" but less is always acceptable -- as per Jesus "turn the other cheek". this is the reason behinde the Death Penalty. No it isn't. The public is sadistic, vicious and cruel and likes to see other people suffer. Most politicians are too weak to stand up to them.

I read that book, and lived in Houston when it happended and the subsequent trial occurred. And you are right, this guy definitely should not be the poster child for the anti-death penalty movement. He already has a job...the poster child FOR the death penalty. I think reading this book and the role that this DR inmate played would convince most people to try to help someone else in this world!

Interesting to see this post is still being debated over.
I'm so curious as to why many people, in particular Pros indicate that Antis don't actually read much on the crimes committed. And certainly this has been the case in my experience and appears to be the case in this thread.
As someone who used to write to a convict involved in this particular crime, I've read up on this crime extensively, and my inmate wrote about what happened of his own accord. As an Anti, I am just as sickened by murder as anyone else can be, so sickened by the act of taking someone's life that I would never support it in any circumstance.

To those who write to the convicts on death row, I have a question. What compels you to write to these individuals?

To those who write to the convicts on death row, I have a question. What compels you to write to these individuals? The compassion for an individual that made a huge mistake in life and gets murdered for that mistake. That is what made me write Peter and what made me keep in touch with his little brother and another person involved. Even if they murder Peter they have not won, they will not manage to murder all of these young men no matter how much Pena and the other basterd wished. They can not even do anything agianst us who support these young man. I hate these bloodthirsty men. They're no better than these young men.

on another board that i post on a discussion about this case just started so i went to char's board to re-read about it as well as here cuz i remembered the case was being discussed here too ... i still see both sides of views and stances as valid here ... i see why supports of the dp call for everyone in this case to be executed ... i dont agree with it since i am anti as many of you know but i do see where dp supporters are coming from here ... and lets be honest about one thing ... this is one of the worst and most brutal murder cases most of us will have ever heard of ...
i personally oppose capital punishment as such and therefore i oppose executions in this case as well not out of compassion or whatever for mr cantu and the others.. but as i stated .. for the simple reason that i dont wish death on anyone and dont support the dp as an acceptable instrument of justice ...
one more note goes to banshee here: i can see and understand that your emotional involvement with peter cantu makes you feel like you had to defend him as many would do with a beloved person ... BUT your attacks on those who support his execution and esp. your personal attacks on the girls family members are totally uncalled for and unacceptable ... quite frankly i find you either immature or emotionally unstable ... or both ... you are definitely not a person that i would call a "fellow anti" ...
with that said i remain Mo-DAWG

Peter didn't make a mistake - he knew full well what he was doing. It's not a mistake... You have a very hateful attitude toward the innocent people. Just reading your posts are enough to turn anyone away from this site......You would not make a great poster child for Anti's. Very few people are going to take anti's serious with people like you spouting hate for those who didn't ask Peter to kill their family members. (wrong thread to read after just joining.)
