Capital punishment never deterred these two men. So you are just giving us another example that CP does not deter murderers, even sexual predators.

These murders were planned long before in the period when the two perpetrators were still in prison and the death penalty was outlawed and not a factor. True it can't be proven one way or another that maybe they wouldn't have planned these killings and become obsessed with carrying them out if the death penalty was a reality. The truth is that this case was cracked because the perpetrator n*rris feared rightly or wrongly that the police would un ravel the case and he'd risk the death penalty and so he plea bargained a prison sentence and lead police to the bodies of the victims who otherwise would have never been found and their fates would have remained unsolved.

Nixon only confessed as he was given a deal where the prosecution would not seek the death penalty in exchange for his evidence and help in locating the bodies of his victims. The death penalty had been reintroduced years before these two started their murdering ways and the DP in no way had any effect on their behaviour.
Nobody today who is an expert in criminal law, criminology or psychology believes that the death penalty has ever deterred any person from committting murder. It is an argument that only people like those at Crazy Pros put about because they have lost the case for the retention of capital punishment.

The predator b*ttaker enjoys his growing fan club and 'cult status'. He get's plenty of 'fan mail' from sick minded people. Don't read the following article if you're prown to nausea. This murderer has been signing the autopsy reports of Lynette Ledford, Jackie Gilliam and Jacqueline Lamp. Do you not realise that had these people been sent to prison for the rest of their lives they would just be another con. Putting these people on death row is what gives them this "Celebrity" status.
Those two men were serial killers, just as the other ones on that site you place above, who did not care one bit that California has CP. CP deters not one single murderer.

Bittaker will be executed sooner or later. Manson was a cult figure before he was even tried, in fact long before the murders he was a cult figure. CP never deterred manson or his followers, who could all have been executed. Manson's sentence has you know was not commutted on merit but due the USSC in Furman. Had Manson been sentenced to life in the first place, his case would be of little interest to almost everybody by now. You will always have these DR groupies, ironically if you go around the web sites you will find that a great number of them are also pros.

So what do we do? Let the likes of Charles Manson decide whether or not we have a death penalty? Sorry, Anna, but Charles Manson is not going to jerk me around, and neither is this B*ttaker character. I know the way I believe, and I am not going to adjust that on account of wierd old crazy Charles Manson.
Just out of curiosity, how come you're not worried about the "fans" of some of these militia types and white supremacist types we have running around in the U.S.? Do you post elsewhere opposing the fact that there's a website and little "fan clubs" for Stormfront, Operation Rescue, God Hates Fags, or the IHR? Or don't you think they all are as dangerous as Charles Manson?

While in MY earlier years I did not believe in the DP, mostly because i thought that murder was murder anyway you look at it, that is until Lynette's horrible death. Maybe my beliefs had changed because of the fact that i had known Lynette since the 3rd grade.We went to Elementary, Jr High and High School together and were good friends . Bitaker and Norris are lucky that i had never ran across them while being incarcerated because neigther the DP nor the hanious acts uopn Lynette and the other innocent victims would compare to what i would prefer to do to them..
These evil sadistic demons deserved no pity and justice should have been to them given many moons ago. Rest in peace Lynette, I still think of you today, your mild manner, warm smile and soft feelings are so missed. Tom S

We are all so terribly sorry that Lynette was taken so wrongfully and cruelly from us! Those monsters even recorded her pleas and screams to relive their sadistic evil!
