No one under 18 is allowed to write death row inmates; and they shouldn't.
What adults should expect is -
1) to be writing to a death row prisoner usually guilty of murder. 2) to expect - Mail.
i think thats all an intelligent adult needs to know.

Although I don't think those who mean only to attack inmates should be writing to them either. But that's just a moral opinion. Gill. x

well i have just started to write to two men on dr and i would have never dreamed of doing it, i was always for the death penalty , but now my views have changed, im not a weirdo , groupie or nut case, infact im a married 40 year old educated mum of one, who is happily married to a police officer here in england, so far i have recieved two letters back from each of my penpals, and have replied, i have been open and honest with them from the start and they are great, i am so happy to be given the chance to write to them and i hope to have a good lasting penpal relationship with them , love laura

I thank God for people with kind, compassionate hearts that give their time to write DR imates. I think it is very important to find out as much as you can about that person and his family. I think the families of these men deserve a fare say and if you are going to befriend the married inmates, then you should befriend his family too. It is important to keep them within God's circle and help them never loose sight of what is right in the eyes of God and help them prepare for what may come to pass. It is sooooo very important that before you pass judgement on the family, one should get in touch with the family, just to follow up on what may be the truth and what may not be the truth!!!!! Pen pals are a must for the survival in there and it is an unselfish act for one to give of their time. So, please do not stop, just keep it REAL.

Exactly! I made sure I got in touch with Clint's wife and other supporters. First of all I wanted to respect his wife. I thought that was only right to get in touch with her so she'd get to know me. Plus, I plan on meeting her when I go down that way. Plus with his other supporters, it makes the fight for him much stronger.

You are so right!!!!! Together we all can make a difference. As a wife I would have been thankful for someone to help in fighting the battle and that I knew cared for my loved one as we did; and still do!!! You are a good and responsible person. Keep up the good and compassionate work!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just sent her an e mail about coming to this board to meet other wives of DR inmates. Her pc is down R/T moving so I'm not sure when she'll get it.

I just thought of something.
Look at the name of this thread.
We started it to encourage people to write prisoners; by telling them that lots of normal people write prisoners. What do we have here now? Springer show. So I am actually gonna kill MOST of what is in this thread so it can serve its original purpose.

I have just started writing to another dr inmate. This one is a departure for me in being female. Recent experience advises me against revealing the names of those I write to on any message board. So although this one doesnt engender the hostility of any pro-board, Im keeping her name under my hat.
My friend did express concern about being able to pay for postage too and suggested international money orders as the solution.

Tasha... you need to use a credit card to order stamps from the US postal store online... it costs 80 cents to send a letter to us here in Australia. That is the only way I know of to get US stamps. I will be ordering some in the next month so maybe we could work something out? PM me is you want to do that. Hope you get as much from writing to DR inmates as I have in all the years I have been writing!

I think the other thing is that while you can provide support for your penpal, (watching the Lonnie Pursley saga - I figured this one) is that a pen Pal should be aware of other people in his life No one under 18 is allowed to write death row inmates; and they shouldn't. What adults should expect is - 1) to be writing to a death row prisoner usually guilty of murder. 2) to expect - Mail. i think thats all an intelligent adult needs to know.

Youre a bright spark, bringbackolesparky, but with that handle youre in fantasyland. Rest assured that as soon as Nebraska schedules an execution their electric chair will be kicked into the long grass with all the others. Fortunately executions in Nebraska are about as regular as appearances of Halley's Comet.
Im sure you will find plenty of numbskull friends at Crazy Pros.
