Ivan, I think about you often. I hate that you are in this predicament. I want to help you. Is this Tammy the same girl I know? May the Lord be on your side.

They should really give you more credit for your accomplishments here. You really impressed me when you got your brokers license. I know how you overachieved. I want to take an active role in helping you. Tell me what you need or want and I will be there for you.
Sincerly, Matthew

Ivan Abner Cantu v. Thaler, 2011 U.S. App. LEXIS 1574 (5th Cir 1/26/2010) Appeal from the district court on federal habeas corpus denied, on “three claims: (1) ineffective assistance of counsel at the sentencing phase, which the [district] court denied on the merits; (2) ineffective assistance of counsel at the conviction phase, which the court [below] dismissed as procedurally defaulted; and (3) actual innocence, which the [district] court dismissed as not cognizable in the Fifth Circuit.” ” State habeas court’s deference to petitioner’s counsel’s decision not to investigate petitioner’s mental health, as a defensive strategy and in light of their “zealous and competent” presentation of petitioner’s new found mental and spiritual stability, was a reasonable application of Strickland.” [via Lexisone] On December 11, 2009, the trial court denied Cantu's motion without a hearing. The trial court stated in its order that Cantu "ha[d] not established entitlement to have the requested evidence submitted to forensic DNA testing." On January 26, 2011 For the foregoing reasons, the district court's denial of habeas relief is AFFIRMED. Scheduled DOD 8/31/2011

I am so sorry you have to face this, Ivan. I will keep you in my prayers constantly. I know first hand the pain you and your family are going through. It makes me sick at my stomach to know another person faces the fate of Texas' ignorance. I know so many of you and when I visited my husband I saw the same pain in your eyes as my husband's. Please know that you have a support group and you have God. He will never leave you and forsake you. Man will so stay focus on God. I know my love one would have never made it to the other side with his belief and acceptance that God was in control. He parted the sea and moved mountains and made the blind to see, He too can set you free. I believed that and know that no matter what He held up His promise to my love. God is with you!!!

Ivan A Cantu #999399 Hello, my name is Ivan Cantu, i am currently on death row and i've been here since november 2001. I heard about ACM from the local shout out show. When I heard about the opportunity I knew I wanted to be involved. I am 32 years old and i am from dallas. Prior to prison i worked for a financial institution as a loan officer. I have had the opportunity to be married but i am currently divorced. I never had children, that's definately one thing I regret but maybe one day... Here, options are limited, so i spent the majority of my time reading. I enjoy reading about education, heathcare, politics, law and really anything having to do with philosophy. DR is the hardest challenge i've ever had to face, but i remain optimistic and take each day in stride. One of the hardest things to deal with are the executions each month... Writing is my therapy and i would really appreciate it if you could find someone overseas to write ! I need you, please ! Thank you for working so hard for us, all of us from Texas DR thoroughly appreciate all you do ! Sincerely, Ivan A. Cantu #999399 polunsky unit 3872 fm 350 south livingston, TX 77351

Hi, I dint know if you read the messages here or even if you are the person behind the post but i have an important message for you. I only found out about your case, if I knew I would have replied sooner. I wanted to say to please repent. Jesus died for all our sins,no matter how small or bug they are. Please,I'm only saying that because I want you,and all people, to go to heaven. This life on earth will pass away but our soul is what remains. Even if you think it's late,it's not. I've heard many stories about people believing in Jesus and repenting before they di2 and actually mean it. I hope you do so too. I'm sorry for what is going on and I wish I could do more. But what I have I offer, and that's forgiveness and grace in Jesus(which leads to eternal life). Believe, repent and you'll be saved. No matter what you've done. It's not too late

Cantu #999399 polunsky unit 3872 fm 350 south livingston, TX 77351 Dear Ivan Canton, I wanted to reach out to you to express my thoughts and support during this challenging time. I sincerely hope that the Pro board and Greg Abbott will grant you a stay. However, if that does not happen, I believe that it is in God's hands, and He will guide you through this difficult journey. I want you to know that there are people like myself who have been rooting for you. I have written several letters to support your innocence and have been praying for good news tomorrow. Even if the outcome is not what we hope for, please remember that there are strangers out here who are thinking of you and rooting for your release. Stay strong, Ivan. You are not alone.
