TUSCANY November 30th 1786 / November 30th 2005
Today my region ( Tuscany) will celebrate its 219th anniversary since the abolition of capital punishment came on november 30th 1786 under the kingdom of Duke of Tuscany Pietro Leopoldo Asburgo Lorena. We have been the first region in Italy to abolish and we still celebrate this day. My thoughts and prayers are for those on death row and for those who are still fighting for abolition. Our day will come. Love, Ela

I just edited the post Judy; by the way I was referring to the fact that in Italy we have been the first to abolish. Italy was not an united country at time ( we had Italy united in 1861) and Tuscany was the first region in Italy to abolish. In fact today it is not national holiday, but only for my region. I didn't mean the first in the whole world.

I was just sort of looking at the fact that the abolishment movement is way older than any of us will ever be. William of Normandy (Popularly called William the Conqueror) was not a man who was afraid to fight people in the heat of battle but like many he found CP to be repulsive and unacceptable in a civilized society.
