Jimmy called us here at CCADP moments after his phone conversation with his pro bono attorneys where he heard that the judge of the hearing denied him. He seemed in good spirits; or he was acting as though he was; though I think some of it was wanting to sound strong for his friends and supporters. Though also I think it did not have as much as an emotional effect on him as it could; because to be honest he has always said that he doesn't expect much relief at the state level. He was more concerned that friends contact his family especially his children; so that they can hear it from loved ones and not from the local media or something. This is also very difficlut on his elderly parents who have always done all that they could to support him. As one of Jimmy's supporters; and a member here; said; this decision pretty much gaurantees that Jimmy will not be a free man in the next few years while his kids are still in their adolescent years. Its been 14 years since Jimmy Dennis was convicted of Zahra Howard's murder; an innocent man. Zahra has never found her justice; and an innocent man sits on death row.
Jimmy will be exonerated; when a brave justice actually looks at the case. One of the courtrroom observers said its obvious that the judge never read the whole record in detail as at one point he had asked after the identity of a person who is one of the main 'players' in the case; a person whose false statements much of the case was built around; who admitted what he was saying was lies; to the prosecutor; before the trial! After the case being on his desk over a year; he should have known this most basic info; and without that it is impossible that he fairly evaluated the evidence in the hearing.... - Thats my quick impression..... and following this are words from Sarah Gau; a German friend of Jimmys and a member here...
